Now if I could solve the wide bore tip issue without simply using an "aftermarket" tip.
I just finished calipering ID of a bunch of driptips..
Kanger subtank mini stock wide bore is 4mm inside dia
TFV4 tip thats got 2 layers is 5mm
Merlin is 5.9mm, I don't like that one at all.
I also measured a bunch of random tips mostly stainless and the rainbow metal and most were 3.9 and 4.0mm. I did come across a older swivel plastic tip that was 4.2mm. Those long curved tips were 3.2mm. A couple of the plastic vase type were 4.2mm. A glass vase was 4.5mm but the opening at the top was 2.9mm. Generally speaking since I'm able to vape nasty low coils with a 4.0mm subtank tip, thinking it was wide bore in which it isn't there should be no problems using other tips...I never thought of measuring ID if driptips until just now.
Just for kicks I'm vaping a .25 SS clapton at 40 watts in a Merlin with a Istick100 using a glass vase tip and having no airflow problems and it can handle it as fast as I can pull.

That sounds like good advice but I don't want to work that hard.
I'm a firm believer in do to it as you please so in the end its all your decision. I've been doing this for quite a while, read piles of threads, FB and watched hours and hours of videos. One thing that has been a constant throughout everything I've learned over the last 4 years is that if your planning on using stock coils no matter what atty it is or figure vaping is plug and play then your in for a rough frustrating expensive ride. Once you get settled then you may reconsider the "too much work" cause rebuilding isn't much work at all and the result will cause you to kick yourself saying why didn't I start doing this earlier.

I'm not trying to see how much I can handle, just looking to pleasantly enjoy my nicotine addiction while damaging my body as little as possible.

I do not have any calipers handy, but I would think a bore of less than 5 mm should wok fine. All the Kanger tanks look like wide bore tips to my untrained eye. I appreciate the measurements of bore diameters on common drop tips you provided.

I might try it sometime. When I was still pipe smoking I did have to spend quite a bit of time reaming and cleaning my pipes. Replacement coils do not seem that expensive since I would expect to get decent life out of them. Some like to wrap their own for flavor or performance, but I'm pretty happy with those for now. As a former cigarette smoker the taste is fine. Most cigarettes do not actually taste that good and so far I am primarily vaping tobacco flavored juice. Pipe tobacco is another story, but it all has a tobacco base flavor.

I began to build coils cause the starter kit clearos that I was using were nasty. I guess I was lucky that my first coil lasted several weeks but after it wore out, the 2nd coil tasted like metallic crap that burnt my throat. I open one up to see a jumbled lump of wire that didn't look right so I began to investigate thus starting with revamp and eventually rebuild. That was back in the day when quality control didn't exist. Today's coils are different but still a roll of the dice with each one. Its just natural progression to with getting better at building. I have nothing to prove to nobody other than to my wife who I haven't heard complain about her setup in 4 years. I did take a $600 a month smoke habit for 2 of us down to less than $20 a month. If you tinkered with pipes then rebuilding should be a breeze.
Enjoy your vape no matter what your using, if it works for you then that all it takes, find your nitch then go from there.

Glad no leaking is happening! I have been using my Evic Mini with Sub Tank Mini but, I still use the RBA (opposed to stock/SSOC coil) with a 1.65 Ohm single coil @ 8 watts. Set to the tightest draw is very comparable to my MVP with Kangertech Emow tank with a 1.5 ohm coil running the same wattage. I made that coil on March 13th and it still tastes like a new coil but, I only run Unflavored through it.
We like the same style of vaping, but I like tobacco flavored liquid.

Flavor, reliability, and cost are big factors. I always remember the days when tobacco cost me hundreds, so a few dollars here and there doesn't bother me much. It always beats the hell out of a few hundred a month, every month, that I used to spend on cigs.

Thanks a lot. I am gonna order that steel tip. Can't believe I have spent hours reading and watching vids the last week or two and did not go to FastTech as no one had mentioned it before I came here. Looks like a good place.

I am only using an Aspire Nautilus 2 and have no leaking issues even laying it on its side. It is one of many reasons I like the Nautilus so much. I would like to find a Kanger tank I like as well as the Nautilus to use all the replacement coils I bought. When I check out any tanks online they all seem to have reports of leaking and Kanger tanks seem to have more of these reports than other brands. I have considered trashing the 15 Kanger replacement coils I bought with the Kanger starter kit and just buy another Nautilus 2.
Can you link what it is you bought? I use and love kanger tanks. I have never had any problems with them from day 1.

:)

Hint with fasttech...Order should be $20 or more for the free shipping. And expect to wait at least 2 weeks, if not longer for your order.

I plan to buy a drip tip linked in a recent post in this forum, but have not bought anything yet. When I get a chance I will go
There and shop Kanger tanks or clones and buy the tip as well. Thanks for the $20 info on free shipping.

Fasttech can be a good source of cheaper items we all use, but wanted you to know that they are in China, that is what I mean by at least a 2 week or longer wait.

They are lots of US based vendors that have the kangers subtank mini's on sale right now, if you would like it faster than that. Let me know and I will get you some links.

I have not bought anything yet but plan to buy a steel tip with a narrow opening. I will go there when I get a chance and shop Kanger tanks and clones and buy the tip at the same time. I have not seen a tip so narrow until now. Thanks for
the info on shipping. The tip is linked in a recent post in this discussion. I really do not want to take the time to learn to post a link on this site right now. I realize I have made some posting errors in this forum today, but figure people will understand since I am a noob here. :)

I have ordered direct from China before but I prefer to order from within the U.S. It not only takes less time, it just feels better.
