Hi everyone. Last week I bought a kanger topbox mini kit to replace my estick TC, which has some significant issues with being unresponsive and autofiring.

I absolutely love this kit. So imagine my dismay when I picked it up, found it incredibly hot to the touch, and quickly removed the battery. I was greeted with a strong smell of melting plastic. The battery wrapping was damaged, it shorted, and some plastic melted at the bottom battery connection. Now my one working mod doesn't work. I try with a different battery. I got the screen to come on once for a split second when I plugged it in, but have had no luck since.

I've barely had this a week. The idea of dishing out for another mod so soon after is painful. Is there any way to fix this and get my mod working again? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

ENAUD - it shorted because the battery wrapper had already begun to peel off before I inserted the battery into the mod. It was a stupid mistake on my part; I honestly didn't think anything of the wrapper being ratty. I knew not to use an unwrapped battery but didn't realize it only take a bit of exposure.

So, I don't believe the problem was with the mod to begin with. Would you still say it's unsafe to attempt to get this working again?

Thanks for your time.

I'd just trash the mod. Regardless of where the fault lies, a battery melted inside it. Given the nature of the batteries we use, I wouldn't ever be able to trust it again. It's hard to tell what damage was done to the internal bits when the battery shorted. Yes, you might be able to get it working again, for a little while.

I'd trash it. Life's already too short and painful. Just consider it a lesson learned.

Just going on what I bolded from your post, it's not worth messing around with, sorry I misunderstood how it happened, but no, if it were me, I would not mess around with the mod, I'd toss it. Good luck.
