Hey im new here, just thought id try this forum :)

I am having a small problem with my Subox mini and coils.

Just to clarify I have been using Vape Crew Sunny Malone 80VG/20PG 3-6mg juice with a 0.5Ohm genuine Kangertech coil.

over the past couple of months I have been vaping a lot daily with this subox mini and had absolutely no problems. between 27-35 WATTS with no dry hits or burning taste...it tasted perfect the whole time no matter how long or hard my hits are.

but then i hit rock bottom with money and i didnt vape for two weeks, maybe even three because i could not afford the liquid.

now i am back onto vaping, my battery wouldnt start so i gave it one long charge and now it works perfectly (im putting this out there just incase it had something to do with it)
(also when i stopped vaping a left a few drops of liquid in my tank)

I replaced the coil, primed it as i always did and started vaping. But now it seems like there is a bit of a burning taste and it seems harsher than it did before...which i dont get because i didnt have this before.
when i reduce the wattage the taste is better but i liked it on around 30-32 watt but now i cant because if i hit too long then it tastes funny..never had that problem.

any ideas whats up with it??

Id appreciate the help guys!

You may well have burnt the cotton in the coil. Once this happens sadly only solution is throw the coil away and try a new one. The usual solution of start on low watts on a new cool and build up applies, also of course make sure the wick is well soaked before starting vaping. Coils tend to vary, so where one may not burn another may burn at the same watts.

Thanks for your reply, ive got through two coils now and still the same result..could this be a problem with the bottom half of the tank? im not very technically minded but maybe some liquid could have leaked onto the contacts seeing as it had been sat for two weeks in the tank?

also once i buy some new coils i shall try this.

No idea on contacts, not technically minded here either. Only other thing I can think of is with the subtank nano I cannot even get to 20 watts on the 0.5 coils. That is the original non vertical kanger sub coils, the vertical versions can apparently take higher watts but I haven't tried them.

So maybe start at 15 watts and see how you do?

just thought id mention im using the mini not nano with vertical coils. i was vaping on 35 odd watts before with beautiful taste. this is weird lol

1: "battery wouldn't start" ?? what does that mean?

2: Whenever you put in a fresh coil, even if you think you primed it well, there is always a break in period; I suppose there's always going to be some airpockets that get trapped in there and it takes awhile for them to work their way out.
Whenever you put in a fresh coil, expect to start at a lower voltage or power than before

the battery on the display didnt come on for a while when i plugged it in, which said to me it was completely depleted. it came on eventually though and charged well

As the man says start low and build up. You are likely burning part of the cotton before it is all soaked with juice.

maybe the battery was depleted as you said; but if so then you must have left it in a pretty low state, which is not good;
or maybe the mod was in a 'sleep' mode and would have turned on if you tried to turn it on; depends on the mod; *shrug*

I had this issue when using an older device that I had, the iStick 10w. The problem that I found was the battery was not giving enough juice quickly enough and tended to undervape the juice, making some of the juice turn black and get stuck onto the wicking. However, in your case even after switching through coils and still having the problem, I'm not sure what to tell you. What this told me was it was time to upgrade devices, and that's exactly what I did, and have not looked back.
