So let me start by saying that I have been vaping for close to 3 years now. I started with a tiny 510 battery and carto. Then I found the kanger t3 or whatever it's called. It was ok, never great. Then moved on to the evod which I loved. Then I moved to the protank 2 (I believe all of these tanks came out in like the same year). So the protank 2 is where everything went downhill. At that point about 1/3 kanger coil heads would even work, most shorted right away or tasted gross. Then I went to the aerotank, thinking they actually changed something "new design" "new coil" yeah right!!!! What we need to realize is this company is releasing like 5 new tanks a year and it's not new!!!!! It's the same old kanger crap with new colors and shape. Their coils even on a good day just seem harSh and tough on the throat. Soooo in between all that junk kanger crap and 200$ later, I decided on carto tanks and a nimbus rda. Wow all that wasted time on kanger products. And the new aerotank mega and mini? It's a joke and probably works about the same as anything the make..... Not well. Idk just my opinion I suppose. But I personally won't be buying any thing they make until they actually redesign it and stop raising the price for essentially the same working piece.

Wow, sorry about the troubles... I have had wicking issues w/ stock heads, but I have come to prefer cotton soooo much more than silica. A quick re-wick and I am good to go. A 2-week-old re-wicked head works better for me than a brand new one out of the box. Would agree that they should make some needed improvements vs. making new tanks with the same issues, but what can you do?
However I do love these tanks overall. How is the Nimbus? Is is it a clone or authentic?
I'd be willing to take those tanks off you hands if your inclined to find them a new home.

I have never trusted store bought heads. I've always torn them down and rebuilt them to my liking.

same here.
i like the kanger tanks and coil heads because they are easy to modify. the cheap metal is easy to work with.
if you drill out the air flow holes and file down the chimney (the bottom part that snaps into the coil base) then throw some twisted 30 gauge wire on a 3mm wick with a 2 mm flavor wick and the protank 2 vapes like a dream...

out of the box its all junk you just need to be willing to spend some time on it.

I understand drilling out the air holes but what does filing down the chimney do?

allow you to slap a larger wick in... more air flow, more wick, more wire = more vapor.
i use a 3 mm silica wick and coil with 2 mm flavor wick on top of that. you could cram that into the coil base but it would really constrict the flow of e-liquid unless you file off about 2 mm from the bottom of the chimney.

Why would I want to put all that effort into fixing something that should work from the get go. These companies just produce junk. No quality control. No R& D. Just a little smoke and not much enjoyment. We need quality control or we will be wasting a ton cash.

and you can have that if your willing to pay a lot more.

some people are expecting top quality rigs made to aero-space tolerances for the price of a large pizza and that is just not going to happen.

Op has the right Idea - when you can't figure out how to use something it is best to move on to something different. Eventually you will find something that does work for you.

Op is wrong about Kanger though. Kayfuns are my preferred, but not a good choice for work. So, I carry my T3-minis and Protank II's with Areotank air flow bases.
I also have had good success with Protank Mini's, T2's and the Evods(about 20 of them)

Not looking for top quality rig at the price of a pizza. The amount of money and time we all waste on these so called new and improved tanks is bogus. You buy quality once you don't need to drill holes and all the other fixes that I have read about. I bought a kafun and have no need for any other tank. If I want to switch juice flavor all I need to do is empty my tank back into the bottle, wash the tank. Dry burn the coil put a 3 cent piece of cotton in and I'm off and vaping again. 5-6 minutes. No need for NASA to design a tank.

I had similar experience. I didn't have any real issues with EVOD's but when I went to Protank/Mini's it was all downhill. Constantly burnt tasting. I then went to cartotanks with IBtanked and absolutely loved them. I have since moved onto Kayfun's and mods, now I'm in vaping heaven. My wife still uses EVODs and loves them.

Have none of you tried readyXwick in a kanger? I swore off kanger products when I got the PT2. Like some of you said there was no quality control over the coils. Some would last a day, some would last a week. Anway I just got some readyXwick and for kicks I redid a kanger coil. IT ROCKS. You have to use NR wire or the base gets really hot as you vape, but if I've read correctly my coil will pop before the wick ever burns. Also an AFC is a must, luckily my nemesis has that built in :D

thats my 2C.

im glad you found what works for you.

personally, i have yet to find a device (at any price) that i could not improve upon the design.

What are you running them on? What voltage? Really now I've gone through probably 300 kanger heads since I started vaping and out of all of those maybe 1% were duds out of the package. Every time I hear complaining about kanger heads its 99% of the time user error. Not priming well enough, taking long drags at 8 watts or 4 volts right after filling, etc. The only issue I have with kanger tanks is air flow on the protank 2 sometimes gets cutt off by the grommet.

That being said my go to tanks are kayfuns now that I'm into rebuilding but my kangers still get used a lot.
