Hi

I recently purchased the eleaf istick which I use with the kangertech subtank.

While I am impressed with the vapour production, I find it way too harsh and hot. On the coil it has the recommonded setting printed between 15 - 30w. I'm at 15w, but I'm still finding it too hot and harsh.

My question is:

is it safe to go down all the way to 11w or even possibly 8. I am confused as I've heard this could short my device or cause injury e.g device exploding, fire...

Thanks

Vape to taste, not to number. You can go as low as you want with wattage/voltage. The talk you were hearing was most likely regarding the resistance of coils.

At times I rebuild the deck at 1.5-1.8 ohm, you can go way down in wattage and still have great flavor.

I'm running the iStick 50w with the Kanger subtank mini with .5 ohm coil and I never notice it getting hot or the drip tip heating up. The only time my vapor gets warm is if I chain vape two or 3 hits. Mind you I sit at around 25w and only draw 2.9 to 3.5 seconds per hit. I keep the air control wide open also. In my opinion it could be the juice you are using, Ive noticed different levels of heat with different brand juices.

I'm using the istick 50w with the kanger subtank, the big tank not the mini. I don't think it's getting hot, but I don't feel like it's working right. Lots of dry hits. I love the istick 20 with the kanger genitank, it's great. I thought this would be even better but so far, I'm not loving it. I think I need to start a new thread for this problem, because it's not the same problem that started this thread.

I run STMs and STNs on my iStick 30 and 50. I tend toward the 1.2 coils - I just don't like the warmth of the 0.5 ohm coils. I've built the RBA on my Mini to just under 1 ohm (0.8-0.9 I think). Now that I got my wicking right, I am not getting dry hits with that tank. Usually run on the 2nd airhole setting or sometimes wide open.

I sometimes switch from the driptips that came with the STM/STN and use a hybrid tip. Mostly depends on my mood :)

My Subtanks on my iStick disagree with this thread. (shrug)
I have 3 subtanks and a couple isticks, perfect combo. I did get a couple glass driptips for them. Biggest thing for the heat is airflow though. I only run mine at 16 watts also. Great flavor and clouds at low wattage is as good as it can get.

Vape to your liking, you paid for it. You don't HAVE to vape at the suggested watt range. I been saying that I think people just feel like they need high wattage mods. I liked the 1.2 coil for my stm at low watts. My friend keeps his mod on 10w, even with .5 coils. I have a .8 on my stm rba right now running at 20w on an istick 50w and it's producing massive clouds and strong flavor. I'm impressed, it's my favorite build so far.
