I just changed my Kangertech Subvod 0.5 ohm coils to the 1.2 ohm coils so I can do MTL, but it seems that the new coils make even less vapor than my old Mistic cig-a-like doing MTL and spit quite a bit. I have the airflow down quite a bit and the draw is still quite loose. I also tried opening the airflow up and doing some DTL for a bit and it spitted less.

What are some ways to make the draw even tighter so it produces more vapor and spits less? Thanks!

I don't have any experience with Kangertech but I've found that the higher the resistance on a coil the wetter the vape. With 1.2 ohm coil I'd expect to be vaping anywhere from 8 to 18 watts but would be more than prepared to try settings outside that range if that's where the sweet spot wants to be. There is no fixed setting and it changes from juice to juice, plus a few other variables thrown in. Trick is to range up and down on the power setting until you find that spot. If you can't find it or it just isn't satisfactory then try changing the coil for a different resistance and see if it works better.
Sometimes if left sitting the juice can build up on your coil and by blowing through your atty while pressing the fire button will clear that excess juice. Careful though since you won't taste it if it starts to burn your wick. Usually increasing the power will result in a drier vape with less spitting.
Get yourself a new atty of a different make and design. As your experience expands and you experiment more you'll soon start figuring out your own solutions to these sorts of problems, or at least have fun trying.

They are the square kind. I hope I didn't waste money on them!

I'm a noob, but would a tighter drip tip help?
Darn, can't help you with those kind as I don't like them nor use them trying once was enough. They have the newer versions that are round and vertical coil, I use those. Hopefully you can get it working to your liking. I know I couldn't but YMMV. I purchased a pack of them myself and still have 4 left unused and will probably stay that way.

If you mean a drip tip with a smaller bore, yes.

A more narrow air chamber (bore) would limit the spitback problem. So would a longer drip tip. A more narrow bore drip tip would also limit the amount of air that you can suck in, which is what mouth-to-lung vapers want.

The Subvod is regulated to only 3.7v so a 1.2ohm is going to be 11 watts at best and that is not enough to get those particular coils going.
Basically, a mini Nautilus or Aerotank/Protank coil might work nicely at 11 watts but a Toptank mini/nano coil... Not really.
(cue the floods of offended people.....)
I tried this combo on the second day I owned a Subvod battery.
i.m.o. it's a total waste of time.

Save these coils for another day and a mod that can do around 4.2v minimum.

I like those coils (1.2ohm) but the Subvod is not the battery you are looking for.

I have a Nautilus x. The draw is great with the air vent wide open. It's not a sub ohm vaper. You buy the coils. I run it at 17 watts. LTM

I had 2 sub ohm atomizers to Lung. They are both top brands. I hate them both. Even turned up to 25 watts or down to 15 watts, the vape is too airy for me and I realized that it's more for direct lung vaping. There was no way I would ever get it to vape like I wanted.

I've heard lots of negatives about kanger tanks, but then i've heard of people that swear by them like Cheallaigh, who was great in helping me when I just started 2 weeks ago!

I had a similar problem though, just now changing out my melo3 coils. I started low before moving up, so as not to burn the coil / make sure it was saturated (wicked) properly. At 8watts it spat back, but now i have it at 15w it's behaving a lot better. I think it's because I created a vaccuum by drawing with the airflow closed, which was the point to saturate. Then I opened up the airflow and took a few shallow puffs while firing and it spat. Pressure builds up in my tank a bit, I can see it happening, mostly does nothing but if it spitsback I unscrew the top a little, and it works fine again. Don't know if this will help at all.
Obviously also depends on pg/vg of your juice, if you wicked properly and so many other factors. Hope you're having fun learning like I am :))
