I hope its okay to ask a quick question here ,
how thick should the flavor wick be ? I have 3mm wick and 32 Gauge Wire to work with
and I have watched a few good videos . Does your VG/PG Ratio determine flavor wick ?
Thinner for thicker juices and vice versa is my guess but I wanted to be sure .

:2c:
they are there for a reason
people call them flavor wicks, I call them "supply wicks"

the purpose is to soak up juice and maintain "wet" ON THE COIL/WICK assembly
supply wicks ensure a constant supply of juice to be atomized by the heat of the coil

also, supply wicks semi-seal so the tank can maintain a vacuum, and juice won't
flow thru the coil assembly out into the battery

so to answer your question, fill the void (no need to pack it tight)
I use 3mm &/or 2mm successfully...

JMO good luck :)

I re-build my Kanger coils with 3mm silica. No flavor wicks. Works swimmingly well. Note: I vape high VG liquids, so YMMV.

I am vaping 30/70 , should I adjust for this? I have noticed a slightly dry hit but its rare and this is with the "factory built " head. I have a strange question; The original coil had about 7 wraps and I only used 5 yet they check the same ohm wise , do they use a smaller gauge wire ? I used 32 .

yepper, as far as rebuild, all the kanger bcc coil assembles are the same
(the bdc (dual) coils are a whole different monster)

coils are pretty cheap, just tear one apart and have a look
just save the parts for when your ready to rebuild...
(remove 'cup washer'-pop chimney stem off-lift loose flavor wicks out)
(on the bottom, pull the center pin out-pull rubber grommet out)
coil/wick should be loose, lift it out

:)

This information is very much appreciated, thanks!

hey great !

that's what it's all about in here

so have you done any yet ?

hope all goes well... :)

Not yet, might wait until a coil goes bad then tear it apart take a look, learn about these coils a little first. Maybe when I get some money one day I will buy some kanthal and other much needed rebuilding parts and give it a try. But all of this information you gave me sure pays off, i will remember how to do it when it comes down to it! :toast:

sounds like a good plan ;)

just when they stop performing, you can refurbish them
(clean, dry burn, new flavor wick) without recoiling...

suggest you at least get (along with other order)
some wick material so you can replace the flavor wick
when you pop off the chimney to inspect / clean...

it's the only thing you'll need to refurbish (not rebuild)

:)
