Wow how did I miss this thread?? Aaeli checking in! I'm transferring to WSU next year so *shocker*!

As far as Mercy in KC...best children's hospital, hands down. My son had a meningitis type illness two years ago. He was in ICU in Wichita for two weeks with worsening brain swelling. When he became unresponsive, he was given an emergency brain shunt with little improvement and had not regained conciousness. Needless to say, I was terrified. When the only peds neurologist here got finished scratching his head, another pediatrician told me to demand a transfer to Mercy. I did, and he was airlifted within a few hours. I drove like crazy to get to KC. When I got there and in my son's room in ICU he said, "hi Mom". I get choked up just thinking about it. The team on the helicopter and the immediate care he was given by SPECIALISTS made a dramatic turn around in only a few hours. I can honestly say that the professionals at Mercy saved my son's life.

Anne, don't ever think you're not valued. Our family will NEVER forget the gift Mercy gave us.

Suzamme, my husband currently teaches over at Wichita West High School.

Anne

My brothers and sister went to East High School and my mom and sister also graduated from WSU. I spent hours and hours in the piano practice rooms occupying myself while my Mom went to class.
We've moved outside of Wichita in time for me to go to Derby HS when Mom started teaching Elementary school. She did teach PE at a Wichita high school many years before I was born...I don't even know if it was called East High School then or not. I know one of her students was the actress Vera Miles.

To my husband's knowledge, West High was never called East High. DH was glad to hear the connection, though.

We used to live up in Maize/Derby for about 6 years but life long Kansas residents until 2006. My in-laws still live in Wichita and we are working on converting mom over. Just picked her up the eGo-T and have it being shipped to her tomorrow. I would love for her to find a local near South Seneca who can help guide her away from her 45 year tobacco habits. Also if there are any local shops in town that sell supplies, please let me know so I can send her that way for local supplies.

Yeah. That's a whole different story LOL. They even sent him home from the ER after we were sent by my Doc. She sent us right back and was on the phone raising holy heck. I learned a valuable lesson about listening to your gut and being vocal about health care. He managed to come away with only some eye sight issues and some memory issues, but we count our lucky stars that was the extent of any permanent damage.

When he was in a regular room they had him on morphine. It got to the point that he wouldn't wake but would something scream out in pain. The doctor treating him decided he needed more morphine and advised us that he was on a high dose and needed closer monitoring. The nurse on the next shift didn't agree with that assessment and did whatever it is nurses do to get a different doctor in there. They took him for a CAT scan and he was being prepped for surgery within the hour. After we came home from KC, I sent a letter to the department praising her to no end.

God bless nurses! Especially vocal ones!

Unfortunately the only place I've seen juice or atomizers in Wichita has been at the smoke shop in Towne West (or East?) and it was incredibly over priced and only menthol or tobacco. There is an NJoy booth at Towne East, but I don't have to tell you that's all over priced too LOL.

I live in S. Wichita and am familiar with the Ego and the new Ego-Ts. If she needs any help, pm me and I'll give you my number.

OK, how many Kansas Vapers do we have? Just curious. For those wary of revealing their city and street, just say that you are in Kansas...no need to give specifics.

So far I know of 2 of us here in Wichita.
