Can you use the Kanthal A-1 34 awg to make wicks? e.g. 34 versus 32? Is the 32 the most optimal?

Yes, you can, Stocks!

32 is slightly thicker and gives less resistance. User-preference. But, if you're coiling for e 1st time, maybe you'd wanna try e 34 awg as higher resistance means the chances of you popping your coils is lesser.

Yes, of cause you can Stock. The lower ga, the lesser the resistance. 32ga is low resistance, in the range of 2 ohm or lesser, 36ga in the range of 2.5ohm and/or higher. I've found 32ga works nice with 3 coils(3.7v), more coils requires higher power.

Besides the thickness of the wire affecting resistance, the number of coils around the wick affects it as well? Im kinda confused about say rebuilding and not sure of what resistance im getting.

get a multi meter or borrow one, you only need it once, measure the resistance and note the length and use the same length every time.

how close the coils are packed also affect the heating.

Icic. So am i right to say only the length matters? So lets say i need 8cm for a 3ohm resistance i just use 8cm coil as many times as long it fits into the atomizer can already?

It actually varies on what you are using. Like, the mesh as well. And how many coils, how close are the coils, how tight are the coils, the material and resistance of the coils.

BUt generally if you are going to coil the same setup the resistance shouldn't vary much just a little here and there
