Kanthal-A1 Wire Length Estimator Excel Spreadsheet - (No Macros all Formulas)

Greetings Fellow Vapers!

I have created a MS Excel spreadsheet to estimate Kanthal-A1 length(s) for coil building to aid in saving materials. It's based on the limited Macro-Enabled one pbusardo offers on his website. However, the one I have created does NOT contain any Macros (which can be dangerous if misused) and it also will calculate:

Single, Dual, Triple & Quad coils in AWG 22 thru AWG 36 (plus .8, .5 & .3mm ribbon)

Output is in both English (inches) and Metric (millimeters) for universal/international usage :)

I am willing to give/share this [FREE] with the greater community at large. I am attempting to attach it to this thread for your use.

I would also like to find a vaper with skills in coding for iPhone/Android that would like to create an app from this and make it freely available (opensource) to the Vape community at large.

Having just graduated vaping 201(using advanced devices like vv/vw) and starting the next level (bought a dripper/rba and supplies) I am learning how handy something like that could be...I often wish I could remember how to make/recreate my favorite wraps for each device (I am practicing on my evod/protank and iclear coils etc.)without all the scraps I'm clipping or worse scrapping short lengths. That way I will be more sure of my skill/knowledge before I sub-ohm. Your spreadsheet would fit the bill×10! Really great if a mobile app. could be added. A big like to you.

NICE! Very Nice!

Thank You for all you hard work and dedication!

This will come in handy for many members of the forum website.

Maybe the Admins and/or Mods will make this thread a sticky, which it deserves to be.

One question though. When estimating for Kanthal ribbon wire, what is the correct entry method in that field. I tried using .4mm and also .40 mm for the width and it didn't work. Do I need to enter both the width and thickness?

At this time, the sheet does not calculate for .4mm. I did not have the specs for .4mm Kanthal ribbon when I built v3 (the uploaded spreadsheet). And .4mm will fall in between 31AWG and 32AWG.

If you know any of the Ohm/ft, Ohm/in, Ohm/mm, Ohm/cm specs (from one the rest can be calculated) you can add a row on sheet #2 (named Lookup-Ref in the workbook) and all the formulas should be updated to include an extra row on the "main" sheet.

This looks fantastic. I am a n00b to this part of vaping, but I think I'm getting ready to jump in (even if only to rebuild my PT2 coils ... baby steps!).

Thank you for all the hard work and putting this out there for everyone! I wish I could code, this would be a great addition to my Android phone!

Greetings Fellow Vapers!
I noticed that the length for the individual and overall wire length calculated for dual, triple and quad coils was not correctly displaying when the formula ran in the spreadsheet. This issue was due to a slight typographical error in the formula. I have corrected the error and am including the newest version (Kanthal Coil Estimator v4.xlsx) as an attachment to this post.

Downloaded version isn't showing the dropdowns.

Hrm odd indeed.... I downloaded the version posted above [And renamed it to differentiate from the orig version on my HDD] Then opened it in Excel and I have drop-down selectors for Coil and Kanthal. (these are the only two drop-downs, Target Ohm is free form and the rest of the fields are calculated for you and should not be modified as they are formulae)
