I've been trying builds on the Magma and it doesn't seem to matter if I use 24, 26 or 28g, it takes some time to ramp up. I've got it on a Fuhattan with freshly charged batteries but it doesn't seem to fire instantly like builds I see on the videos.

I'm using kanthal from myfreedomsmokes and it has no label. Could this be causing the lag time? I've done builds from .3 to .8 and above but always get the same results. Contacts are tight, coils are tight, good vapor and flavor, just slow heating up.

Right now I'm using 24g wrapped 6 times around 1/8th bit. Repeating this on the opposite side to get dual coils at around .3 ohms. I know this is a low build for the Magma, but I assumed it would heat quickly.

I've also used a parallel 26 at 8 wraps, single coil, around the 2mm screwdriver for around .8 ohms (iirc) and it still lags. 10 wraps with this method gave me 1.4 ohms (iirc) and it lags. I'm beginning to wonder if it's the kanthal I'm using or if I'm just overlooking something in my builds. Or, is this lag time normal with larger surface areas?

Thanks for all replies. I'm using a new mod and a new Efest 35 (20amp) and by the second or third consecutive pull, it gives a nice, warm vape. It produces results but lags. I've read the entire sticky on resistance and am at the conclusion that I just need to keep building until I find a happy medium between adequate surface area and minimal ramp up time. Or, maybe a box mod that produces more wattage. I guess I'm searching for that unicorn.

Grab a high wattage box mod. I've found my unicorn with a 100W Sigelei / CLV V2 Plus RDA. The heating surface area is beautiful. Tons of cool flavorful vapor :)
