Okay, after reading thread after thread regarding how many wraps around different object to acheive X numberof ohms, I'm getting confused. I have made some nice coils on a 1/16" drill bit, on a 4d penny nail(1.84mm), numerous wraps, anywhere from 1.5-3.0 ohms. I have wraped them with a gap between coils and also compressing the coils to touch. I'm guessing the latter is a micro coil. I guess my question is exactly what is the purpose of a micro and what guage is best to use on micros. For what it's worth, I have been wicking with cotton. I had a coil last week that ohmed out at 3.4 with 32 ga. that gave me the best flavor out of a peanut butter cup flavor from a local B&M but I have since lost the ability to taste it no matter what gauge, ohm head I use. Another question would be, What gets hotter faster, thin wire/low res wrap, thicker wire/high res wrap, thin wire/high res wrap, thicker wire/low res wrap? Hope that last one didn't confuse anyone like it did me to type it! Thanks for your feedback!

cant say ive tried a bunch of combos but what works best for me is 30ga, about 4/5 wraps around a 1/16 bit gives me 1.2ohm, 6/7 gives me 1.4-1.5 ohms, i use cotton as well and it always fires up really fast at around 3.2-3.6V.

i would venture to guess that lower ohm no matter the gauge will light up the fastest depending on voltage...me speculating..
