kanthal wire ?

I purchased this roll of kanthal and it is not A1 and it seems like everyone is using A1 wire

so my question is will this wire work?

i just now ordered another roll of 28g A1 kanthal so if this first roll won't work I can just throw it away

From what I google'd, Kanthal A1 has a slightly higher heat resistance, but not enough to matter for vaping. They will both work fine as far as I know.

Hi plumb4u2! What you have there is Nichrome60. It will work fine. All of my wire is Nichrome60. I don't even use kanthal. If you don't want it, just send it to me.

Umm doesn't that say nichrome 60? Nichome and kanthal are totally different wires. I actually prefer nichrome. Nichrome 30gauge should be close to same resistance as 28 gauge kanthal. For instance 32 gauge kanthal a1 is 1.14 ohm per inch, while 32 gauge nichrome 60 is .883 ohm per inch.

Nichrome works nicely, too. I don't use it, merely because a1 is what I can get my hands on locally at a decent price. Just make sure to meter your coils. You may find if you're following someone's build and they're using 30ga kanthal A1, you may need a couple extra wraps to be in the ballpark, ohms-wise. Same difference, ya know?

yeah my SVD measures ohms so I will always check the coils

Yeah from what i can see it is nichrome and not kanthal. Never used nichrome from what i heard is that it has less heat resistance and sometimes have a metallic flavor. Other than that i know some people who use it and are totally satisfied.
