My time in the workshop was short lived. The heat built up pretty quick, when I came in after completing the pen it was 96.9°. I'm glad I got it finished. Yesterday, I cut 4 Bocote Wood blanks from a block of Bocote and turned one pen. Today, I turned a pen using a diagonal cut blank of Zebra Wood. The Bocote Wood is on the left and Zebra Wood is on the right.

    Beautiful Baldwinsville (CNY)
    Hi all!

The weather was beautiful today. I put in two more of the concrete columns for the deck extension at camp; 4 down, 3 to go [emoji5]

The water level at our lake is crazy high, up 2-1/2 feet in the last 4 days. We're the only flood plain between the Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario. With the big storms in CNY, 5" of rain late last week directly leads to multiple feet of rise at camp. 3 or 4 carp were playing on what is normally our front lawn at dinner time.

Did a rozting session this a.m. PNG Arokara and Mexico Cascada:

I had been going crazy the last couple weeks (short trip [emoji3]). I wasn't getting a clean first crack on the beans, even with extended roasting time. I finally figured it out, the darn machine was set to one step lower temperature. I'm back to getting the proper crack and bean expansion

(I blame the puppies. Little Bear probably changed it while Maggie had my attention. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it[emoji5])

@Diver9543 how are you? (I had to edit this because I had linked the wrong "Diver")

    And beautiful pens as always!
Thank you. July is always a hard time for me as my wife lost her battle with cancer on the 5th of July 2012. I have been making the pens to take my mind off of that and to help me with the depression that always comes with it.

    Gorgeous!!
    Thank you.

I don't know what I did but somehow I messed up on the last post and kept deleting what I had typed. It is doing ok now. I have quite a few pens right now and need something to display/hold the pens. After sundown, I went to the shop and brainstormed a holder. I put one together out of some really rough scrap wood and have it all glued and clamped. I will see how it is tomorrow. If it works the way I think it will I will make a couple with better wood and put some kind of a finish on it.

I got some bad news yesterday, and would like to ask for prayers and loving, healing thoughts for my little sister. She was a little over 7 months pregnant and had her baby shower on Saturday. Yesterday, she lost the baby. I'm not real clear on the details, but it seems that the placenta detached prematurely. She apparently had some bleeding yesterday morning so she and her husband went in to the ER. They couldn't hear the baby's heartbeat and did an ultrasound to confirm then did a C-section. They let my sister and my mom hold the baby afterwards. She was named Isabella Grace. Afterwards, my sister was still losing blood... they ended up giving her about 4 units of blood and some meds to help with clotting. As of last night, she was still in ICU and was having some kind of allergic reaction to something that they had given her, but Mama said that she was stable. I've not heard anything else yet this morning, but I am very worried and sad for my sister. Out of all my siblings, she is the kindest, most loving, and supportive. Just another instance that really makes me wonder why such horrible things have to happen to the best people...

Can't like this SweetPea but lots of healing thoughts, lots of white light and blessings winging their way to your little sister as I type. I'm so sorry. :(

Thank you, Bea. It was just so unexpected... the 3-D ultrasound that she had done two weeks ago showed that everything was perfect. When they did the C-section, Isabella came out with a full head of hair and was just slightly above target weight for how far along she was. Everything seemed to be going perfectly fine...

Thank you, Love... I just feel so helpless. I want to be there for her, to do something for her... I'd wade through hell and high water for anyone in my family, but she's the one that I'd do absolutely anything for. No questions asked.

I know.:wub::wub::wub: And I'm with you, why do bad things always happen to good people. I've struggled with that concept for years.
