Oh and all sense of humors are like snow flakes, they are all different. It is what makes us unique and weird in our own ways.
Yep, I know it. Some days I wouldn't even think twice about it, today was just one of those days that it bugged me.

What's the ohm rating on the blue coil?

I was wondering more about the stand o_O

Do any of you have things that just get under your skin when you see people joking about them? I'm trying to refrain from slapping a couple people silly in another thread, even though I know that don't mean any harm by it I just find the offhand joking about this particular subject gets to me.

    YES - often....

All the time!! Then I put them on ignore and don't have to bother with them or their comments any more. :)

Yes - when it finally gets to be enough

Just venting a little so I don't bite someone's head off. I tend to get overly sensitive when people joke around about the mentally challenged. So I'll just stay here a bit and enjoy my coffee till that discussion runs it's course.

OHHHHHHHHHHH, not cool. My SO's niece is developmentally disabled - umbilical cord was wrapped around her head - they weren't sure she was going to live. Celebrated her 31st birthday last November. She's deaf/mute, but NOT stupid by any stretch. She does "slur" when she signs  (and I can't read a lot of it anyway, but I know a few key words).

KAD, holy cow that was amazing. I am so proud of you. I know that took courage beyond belief.
You have an amazing soul and will be blessed from here to eternity. Keep your head high and soul proud friend.

    ^^^^^^ THIS!

A Blessed Easter to you all. We have a GLORIOUS day here - Blue skies, sun shining.....

Neighbors having ALL their kids/grandkids/great-grandkids over for the Annual Ginormous Easter Egg Hunt. We'll go out and help hide upwards of 500 eggs. And yes, each and every one is accounted for at the end of the hunt :D

Happy Easter everyone! I put on the big dinner yesterday, today is going to be much slower for me. I'm nursing a boo-boo, sliced my finger open on the edge of the aluminum foil while covering the ham, a new one for me! So anyway, leftovers and relaxing today, yay!

So it seems like I keep piecemealing things, and since I brought up the subject of special needs people, I'm just gonna give you the rest or at least as much as I'm thinking of right now in one big post.

After the fire, Lisa spent two weeks in the hospital in South Bend before they said there was nothing they could do for her there. They sent her to a children's rehab center in Indy. At that time she was semi-comatose as a result of a brain injury, and the prognosis was that she would most likely never walk or talk again.

My job would have been perfectly fine giving me as much time off as I needed but you need to get money from somewhere, right? So as soon as my surgeon (well, just realized I lied, there's more to tell about that too, but not in this post) gave me the OK to drive, I went back to work.

The next three months were spent with me living out of one hotel, and Pam living out of another. On weekends I would drive down to Indy. It took a month before Lisa 'woke up' and a couple more weeks before she was starting to eat. By the time she was released she was walking, feeding herself, dressing herself, and talking, though not nearly as well obviously as a normal 9 year old.

There was significant therapy even after she came home but she progressed much farther and faster than even the doctors in Indy thought she would. She is however never going to be 'normal' the way some people use that word. She is classified as mildly ......ed, her speech is sometimes difficult to understand, especially when she's excited, and from a maturity level she seems sort of stuck at kind of an early teen level.

Today she lives in what I can only describe as an independent living community. It's not like a typical group home. There are two special needs residents in each house with a steward who is there mostly to assist. but the residents all have to work and are primarily able to live an independent life. When Lisa decided she wanted to be an adult and move out of the house, this seemed like a good arrangement because it let her have the independence she wanted while still having some level of supervision, just not as stifling as a group home would have been.

As Garrison Keillor said, and know you know the rest of the story.

Ouch, never done that but I'm imagining a paper cut right now. Never understood how a paper cut could hurt so much more than bigger more serious cuts could.
