My oldest went and youngest dawter go to a special school set up by the tri-counties of SE michigan. Merit based, gotta pass tough tests and have prereq middle school classes, and THEN entry is by lottery. Made the US News and World Reports top 10 H.S.'s list for.. years running. Think it just fell below #10 for first time since inception. It's an Intl. Baccalaureate program. EVERY kid there is a geek. BUT, no drug issues, no bullying, and everyone WANTS to be there and learn.
The oldest needed us to drop off some money to her at school, so she could go do something with friends. We were out on a bike ride. So we came by. She was all like "Mom and Dad, you are EMBARRASSING me!" I looked at her, and said, "Me and your Mom are on a Harley, and you're coming outta GEEK school. Who is embarrassing WHOM here?" We still laugh about that...
