Recently I've been having problems with wicking on my kayfun. I build 1.2-1.5ohm microcoils and they almost always start of hitting really well, then shortly after I eventually get a burnt hit and have to replace the wick. I do not overpack the wick inside the coil, don't roll the entire piece. I leave just enough cotton at each end so that i can tuck it down to the base resting right above the channel. When I open up my kayfun after I start getting burnt hits I notice that the wick looks almost completely unsaturated.

Little unsure as to what I'm doing wrong. One thought is my coil may be sitting too low over the center airhole on the kayfun, could this be causing the problem? Heres a pic of how I typically wick

(old pic, I don't normally use so many wraps)

looking at the picture.. your wick doesn't look like it's coming down far enough to catch the juice as it's sucked up the channels. Take a look at my blog.. there is a list of problems and solutions that I copied from the svoe mesto instructional manual.

Also.. here's a thread that I started.. it has that list of problems and solutions plus some videos that may help. :) (your coil looks fine btw)

I haven't been rebuilding Kayfuns for too long, but my limited experience tells me that your wicks may not be long enough to wick up the juice coming up the channels (just like donnah said)....I would maybe try a new wick with a few mm longer on each side, and kind of 'drape it down' along the deck so it catches the juice more effectively ..maybe that'll help?

Also, what voltage are you running? I am running a 1.8 Ohm micro coil right now on my KFL+....I have it on my Provari and I cannot go above 4.4 volts without getting burnt hits....maybe try a slightly lower voltage? Or are you running it on a mech?

the cotton looks a little to short to me, but I could be wrong. I went to a local vape shop and had them help me with my 2nd build on it. The first time I tried I screwed it all up and went to them for help. They helped me and I no longer have any problems rebuilding it at all. My only problem not is it uses a lot of juice lol

I would definitely use a bit more cotton. When I build mine I like to use a long piece of cotton, screw on the first part of the chamber (without the chimney section) making sure the cotton is sticking out of the top. Then I cut it so there is just a bit sticking out of the top. Next, use a screwdriver tooth pick or whatever you have handy to stuff the cotton into the chamber. I have found that the best way to do this is to put a little juice on the wick and make sure the wick is pressed up against the deck of the kayfun, so the juice can flow intothe chamber.

Hope this helps! :vapor:

Also, Nekro13's profile pic is EPIC

The cotton on the left side does look a bit too short, but it looks good on the right side. What diameter coil is that? Are you using high VG? Hard to tell from the picture. I use 100% VG and I find that if i go a bit bigger with the coil, it wicks better. I wrap my coils around a 2.5mm jewelers screwdriver. I tend to get a few dry hits if I go with 2mm, and I get a ton if I go smaller than that. If it's a clone, you might want to make sure that the channels are clear all the way through and not blocked by any bits of metal that didn't get properly removed.
