I have been using Kanger aerotanks and feel the need to try my hand at a rebuildable. After viewing tons of posts here i have settled on a kayfun clone to attempt my first coil builds. Now my question is which clone seems to be the best? I have looked on FT and there are so many different ones. I'm not opposed to ordering from the states but FT's prices just can't be beat, any and all suggestions are much appreciated!

That depends on what you want from your Kayfun.

Kayfun 3.1 and The Russian are essentially the same thing. They are the "everything and the kitchen sink" models and are the largest because of it. They include a catch tank below the coil, air flow adjustment screw on the side, one-way valve on the side for easy refilling (Or fill through the top like other clearos), adjustable contact pin and a 510 drip tip adapter.

The Kayfun Lite lacks all of the above. You fill it either from the bottom through a small screw hole or through the top. The Kayfun Lite does use a 510 drip tip so it does not need an adapter if you want to change the drip tip.

The Kayfun Lite Plus is the same as the Russian 91%. These are like the Kayfun Lite, but they have adjustable airflow and the adjustable contact pin. However, the airflow is on the bottom so you have to remove the tank to adjust it.

The rest of the differences are cosmetic rather than functional.

I have 4 different ones from FT

This https://www.fasttech.com/products/0...fun-v3-1-es-styled-rebuildable-atomizer-kit-4 is the best IMHO. Nothing at all to complain about with this one.

The $14 cheapie is also very good https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10006473/1605200-kayfun-lite-styled-rebuildable-atomizer-4-5ml . No airflow adjustment, but the airflow is fine the way it is for me. The build deck machining is a bit crude, but nothing that affects use or performance in any way. Oh, almost forgot to mention, I polished off the ugly logo, now it looks good too.

The tobeco Russian "A" version https://www.fasttech.com/products/1411/10006473/1552300-russian-91-styled-rebuildable-atomizer-4-5ml needed a lot of cleaning and reaming out the air passage at first, but now works very well, the juice channels look shallow, but are not causing me any trouble. I could see if someone used high VG liquid, they might not be so pleased with it. I am using this one with a FT nano kit, which fits just fine.

My other 3.1 https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10006473/1494700-svoemesto-kayfun-v3-1-es-styled-rebuildable came with a poorly centered center pin at the 510 connector. I didn't return it because it didn't actually short out, but it made me nervous that there was less than a hair's width separation keeping it from shorting. I got a nemesis hybrid connector which replaces the collector tank and center pin, no more problem. And the hybrid mounting looks great on a nemi. Vapes beautifully and never leaks a bit. Recent reviews on FT are no longer mentioning any center pin problems.

Hello fellow Marylander and Baltimore resident I live in Dundalk I have the kayfuns and nothing I have found compares in flavor. for a first time builder I think its the easiest of the rebuild type attys. That's my opinion. Good thing is if you need help I'm probably not far from you lol Honestly you can find plenty of info on youtube on building the kayfuns there are a few Kayfun Lite clones being sold with airflow adjustment one is at FastTech. you will have to read the description to see what one it is that they sell but I was just looking at it last night. There are a couple local shops selling the kayfuns they cost more if you don't mind spending to get it now. send me a PM I can give you some local B&M shops to get one from.

I guess what im after is the flavor factor i have read the kayfuns deliver. Would you suggest a Kayfun to a new coil "builder"?

Well, you may be better off to learn to do a basic coil on a dripper first, where's it's easier to test and rebuild until you get it right.

But really, watch some you tube videos and do what they do and you shouldn't have much trouble. I really feel that if I can do it, anyone can! I lack the patience that some of these guys seem to have for tweaking until the coil is perfect, but a basic build works fine.
I watch the videos on some other tanks and my eyes start to glaze over, they look like so much trouble to get right.

I would seriously suggest getting an Igo-L dripper to learn with.

The Kayfun is great, but it's a real PITA if you don't have the coil or the wick exactly like you want. Tearing down the entire tank because you're just not happy with the coil or wick and trying to figure out how to salvage all of that juice is just a hassle you really don't want.

You can get an Igo-L for $10-$15. It's a great learning tool. You can try out several different coils and figure out how to get your wicking right without spending a half hour tearing down the tank just because you have a little too much wicking material.

I have watched a few videos on building coils and drippers etc. Im fairly certain i can accomplish what i want from a Kayfun but not sure i have the patience to use a dripper. I was smoking three packs a day up until about a month and a half ago so im still chain vaping to say the least haha

I love my SKU1494700 just go for it. Best spend 20 bucks.
Kayfun has a few oddities (might leak if not build properly etc) but is all in all easy and a great performer. My daily vape ...
Enjoy
