so i've recently received my first kayfun, a kayfun lite to be specific, via the classy's and its giving me some trouble. I've watched a ton of video's on setting these up and at this point i've given every sort of build i can think of a try, but i keep running into the same issue.

ive built it using silica and cotton at a few different resistances and fired it at a bunch of different wattages and even tried a microcoil on it. now the first tank through, on just about all of the setups ive tried, it is amazing and i can totally see why the kayfun has such a following, but almost immediately after a refill it, i wind up getting a burnt taste and i cant figure it out for the life of me. hoping somebody can help...

Can you give a little more detail on your end of tank and fill procedure? Not really a good grasp on what's going on, maybe you're torching the wick at the end of your first tank? Does the burnt taste go away after a few puffs on the new tank?

Any other info you can give will help us get to the bottom of this.

You're not over filling are you, because I thought I saw a review somewhere where the reviewer said that you need to leave a little air bubble for pressure or it would not feed juice to the coil. Could the burnt taste be a result of juice starvation at the coil?

Ok so I built a new coil and I took a few pictures to help anybody understand my process.

So there are a few tutorials out there for cotton wicks in the kayfun where they position the ends of the wick before screwing on the base of the chimney, but I found that it doesnt provide enough wick to feed the coil.

First I thread the wick through the coil with a fair amout of length on either end.

Ive set it up by pulling the ends up through the base.

I then trim the ends about 5 mm longer than the chimney base.

Then I push the ends down gently into position.

This method has been working the best for me. Hope it can help a few people

none yet the more and more i use the kayfun lite the more i think the most important part of the build is how you position the wick ends over the juice channels. I've found the more gently you do it, the better off you are

I haven't tried cotton and micro coils yet, but I've tried just about everything else. So far my favorite method of setup happens to be pretty elementary to build.

2mm wick
30awg Kanthal
4 wraps
= 1.04 ohm

As far as dry hits and flooding: I find its all about how full you have the tank. About half capacity seems to be the sweet spot. I take my Kayfun everywhere with me, so there is certainly atmospheric changes due to temperature differences. Going outside in 100 degree heat builds the pressure inside and I have to make sure I'm vaping or turn the Kayfun upside down so the air buildup can escape. Otherwise juice literally burbs out of the air hole.
