so i'm pretty new to this forum and to rebuildables. quit last september and stuck with kanger.
went from an ego twist to itazte to vtr and now venturing into rebuildables with the sigelie and kayfun.

been doing heavy research and watching riptrippers videos on coils.
figured i'd post here and ask before asking in the veterans section.

i made the double barrel coil he made and came in at .07 ohms.
cotton kept getting burnt even though wicks were not blocking channels.(tried it at 13 watts.)

then yesterday figured i'd take 2 strands stick them together and wrap them on a 5/32 drill bit.
came in at 1.2 ohm. started out at 8 watts based on the safe vaping chart.(took the set screw out completely)
bumped it up to 15 watts now and figured to play around with the air flow.

EUREKA had a epiphany adjust controller to alow juice to flow into chamber.(placed set screw back lol)

Problem now is the tip gets to hot i can't even keep my lips on it.

how are these guys getting so much vapor production with these coils?
needs some tips on how many wraps and on what size bit? also based on (i have a 20 guage and 21 guage needle handy and have access to all drill bit sizes)
ohm rating what wattage?

From a physics standpoint, two things make big clouds: big hot coils and a lot of juice on them. For the latter, a dripping atomizer is nearly a must as most wicking systems can't keep up for long to make ginormous clouds. So you are working on the big hot coil angle, but not on the lots of juice angle. The dripper advice is solid.

not going to be switching anytime soon, i like the tank system too much. i'll settle for a happy medium.
whats the biggest coil you can fit into a kayfun?
do you get more production out of a single or double?

Well the dual coils are going to give you lower resistance (if in parallel as usual), which is going to increase your power/heat. You also want a good bit of surface area, which dual coils should provide, so you're on the right track. But the kayfun is going to get hot with that setup.

Sounds like you need to mess around with your wicks so you can try to get that juice in there. Burning your wicks shows that you are not getting enough juice in there.

There's also the issue of juice. VG will give you clouds, but is thick so you'll continue to have wicking problems.

You're basically caught-22 with a kayfun.

Dripping attys are cheap. If this is what you want to do, you should probably get one.

I can get all my vg juices to wick smoothly in the kayfun the best setup I have found for those thick juices is the chimney coil build. But you can always add distilled water big clouds but not as thick.

so I have finally found my happy medium. went back to riptrippers double barrel shotgun build. tough to build if you've done it only once. he makes it look so easy.
spent probably 40 minutes to wick it. since it's so small.

now i'm down to .06 ohms running it at 11 watts. and i'm gettin crazy flavour and double the vapor from a kanger aero tank.
thanks for all the greats tips and advice guys appreciate it.

From my experiences with the KLF+, it is workable down to .7, but It seems to like the 1.0-1.2 ohm builds best.

Agreed.. the lowest I go is .7 - .8 with twisted 28g build. And the twisted wire behaves a little differently then a normal wrap. Otherwise I don't recommend trying to run crazy sub-ohm or dual coil builds in a Kayfun, you will eventually metal the block insulator.
