Hey,

I just bought a kayfun from my local vape store. I was told it is not a clone and is a svoemesto box. It came with no replacement parts just an extra clear plastic tank. I am learning with it but have a couple questions.

1st the clear tank has horrible threads and takes me forever to thread on? Is this right? maybe I got a bad one? I like the steel tank but I don't have a syringe so how do I know when I am full?

Thnx

I like the steel tank, and I fill mine from the top... I dont do the finger over the airhole trick and dont do the flippy trick either, but I do use 100VG juice, which is slower to leak into the coil chamber when filling...

and since the threads are reaally funky on the plastic tank... good chance it is a real one

I am learning a Russian 91 clone, similar. I can't get the airholeflip thing to work with the top fill. I have gone to using bottom fill only. The manual says they leak if full and horizontal. So, here's what I have done: use the plastic tank, fill from the bottom with "safe" fluids. With a 30ml bottle, a nice level is about 6-8 squeezes or pumps. I am now quite confident that I have a good fill even with the steel tank. I dont get a warning that its going to run out, but it's easy to tell when it is. I get a slight burnt and/or cottony taste (cotton wicks) before it dries out.

Pro tip: if you carry a swiss army knife with the nail file (a classic or cadet for example), the tip of the nail file is a good phillips head and works on the fill screw.

The threads for me on the plastic take a few tries so this is normal. After doing it a few times, you just get the hang of it. Sometimes you have to back out of screwing it on and do it again. This is normal. If you use the stainless portion, I never have a syringe around but most of my liquid bottle tips fit and create a little suction around the fill hole. I do a few big squeezes then do small ones until it reaches the top. You are blindly doing this but I've never had it massively overflow. Maybe a drop or two forms around where the screw goes but it works fine.

Anytime that you have metal threads on plastic threads care needs to be taken in screwing and unscrewing them. So a pyrex/glass replacement is a good idea, most of them that I have seen run around $30. You also need to be careful with the plastic tank sections cracking with some juices. I prefer the using the metal section and fill from the top, I can taste the flavor starting to drop and refill before I get a dry hit. I find that with at least a 60/40 vg/pg juice there is no leakage, but use mostly 100% VG for a better vape.

Be extremely careful when threading the Kayfun's parts, including the plastic tank. They are extremely fine threaded and can be easily cross-threaded, which can lead to leaking from the airhole (upsets the negative pressure of the tank). I thought I had a bad o-ring but it turns out that I had slightly cross-threaded the plastic tank so there was a tiny minute gap which allowed the tank to leak.

I highly recommend investing in a needle/syringe for bottom filling.

I use the Full M tanks on mine. I like to get the absolute most juice in every time I fill, plus I have different colors. :p It's possible the threads are a little messed up, but sometimes even I crossthread once in while. The threads on the tanks can be a little bit of a pain some days.

I also bottom fill mostly now. I got tired of struggling to get the top off some times. And as long as you don't shove the bottom in the fill hole and squeeze the crap out of it, it will not leak. I squeeze a little, move the bottle away for a second and let the air equalize and repeat over and over. I leave just a little air bubble (with the M tank I can really fill it to the max and have the smallest air pocket), hold the tank vertically and insert screw. Works perfect every time.

There are only a couple of glass tanks out there. You can't cut fine machine threads on glass, so the glass tanks use a friction fit with the orings on top and bottom steel pieces. So it replaces the whole central section.

I think the Science of Vaping V2 glass kit is the only one that screws together. The chimney screws onto the top cap. The other one (and the V1) are friction fit only.

I had issues with my KFL+ leaking when top filling until I learned some tricks here on ECF.
What I do is cover the air hole when removing the top cap and keep it covered until the tank is filled. Put top cap on and flip upside down with air hole still covered. Then I remove finger from air hole and let tank pressurize, and flip back upright. I'm sure I don't do it properly every single time but I have had zero leaks since using this method.

Hope this helps a little!

I do somewhat the same method except my hands are so small I can get a good seal over the air holes so I pack them with cotton, cap, flip upside down, remove the cotton , flip right side up and I'm usually good to go! This would be a good method for people with small hands who can't get a good seal over the air flow with their fingers. Hope this helps some one out.
