Keep buying coils for Nautilus or buy rebuildable?

Hi there, I am a month in myself. Started with an ego c twist, and a protank 2. I now have a vamo v5 itaste MVP v2, 20 different types of clearomizers and protank types and a ton of Boba's Bounty! I recently got an igo-l rebuildable dripper, and got it to work awesomely the first try! it was magic.
I then ordered a russian 91% a couple more drippers like the igo-l and a TON of supplies to build (torch, silica, cotton, kanthol, mesh and all the small tools to help) I am in love with building! So much easier than I thought once i did the first one. Dripping is so much nicer than anything else, except for the fact there is no tank.... but that is where the Russian 91% comes in (or anything like it). It is night and day from where I started, and I couldn't go back.
You sound like your already head deep into the rebuilding idea, so I would say GO FOR IT! Get what you can afford, and have at it. I think the igo-l dripper is a great start for anyone. It is so easy and simple to test out coil making, and at the same time, you get a really great (CHEAP) dripper to test ejuice out with. The kayfun style RBA's are an amazing thing to have. I bought a clone russian, as I said before, and I wouldn't think twice about recommending it to anyone. Watch the videos on rebuilding, do some test runs with different gauge kanthal and get the "feel" for it. There is definitely a small learning curve with coil building. I am not getting into the crazy stuff yet (like that total nut rip trippers... JK RT your awesome), I followed Pbusardo, GrmmGreen and vapingwithtwisted420. Watched them over and over before my items came in, then sat down to try it myself. Now I feel pretty confident in what I am doing... I can even wrap coils to specific ohm's from memory, it is awesome.
I love vaping, and so happy I quit smoking. I am also proud to be part of this community with all you awesome people. I wish you all the best, and as I learn, I will pay it forward to the best of my ability.

I do love the Nautilus. It is awesome. I just don't want to keep eating up coils. Maybe I just got a bad batch of them. I haven't seen many bad reviews of the Nautilus at all so maybe it was a fluke. I think I might still get a Kayfun and use them both. I do like the idea of rebuilding because I would never run out of coils. 100 feet of Kanthol should last quite a while. I think I might get the real deal though. I did go look at some Kayfun clones today. Not too bad but not quite as refined as I would like.

Never buy garbage clones. Support the originators.

yeah sure, you can re-build a PT or Naut. And sure, the performance will improve a tad, all I am saying is that you are wasting your rba skills on a changeable atty. They were never designed to rebuild, that's not their target market. If you want to build, try a cheap clone of the Russian, Flash-e-Vapor V2, or the Kayfun. Or if you are really smart, get the real Authentic Russian, Flashi, Kayfun, and be assured of a quality, life long rba.

Clones are a gamble, and quality control issues can get ya. Have never been disappointed with the real deal, with clones, 2 out of 3 ain't bad, if you are lucky. For me, rba's are bought in the collection process of the hobby. rba's provide some of the best vape possible, and most trouble free vape there is to be had, once you are competent at it.

I have always been a "you get what you pay for kind of guy" I am sure I will save up and buy the real deal. I think I'll be looking for the Kayfun or Russian 91%. They seen to be very reliable. I do love this vaping stuff. I never even knew the vaping world was this huge until I started. I think I'm going to try my hand at a mech mod next.

That may be part of my problem. The only Nautilus coils I tried to rebuild have been used coils that shorted out. When I removed the coils from the body, it would pull out the inner sleeve with them. Arrrrrg. I would put it back in but still kind of a pain. My problem is that it either gurgles bad indicating that the wick was cut too short or it would be an incredibly tight draw indicating that the wick was too big. It's just a little too touchy for me. That's the whole reason I would rather just get one that is meant to be rebuilt. Kind of sad. I can rebuild turbo charged motorcycle engines all day long but can't seem to build a stupid coil of wire with a piece of cotton inside. Go figure.

I look more upon what you want/expect..

I love the aspire nautilus with my svd... It's got great vape, period. (Not great vape for just a clearomizer). Is it as much as my nemesis w/Russian 91%, nope, but I wouldn't want to vape that while in a moving car, either.

I like my russian setup, but it's not my all purpose goto device.. I'll grab it on the go, if the coils are current, and if the tank is ready... It's a great device, but like dating a hottie, they require a little more attention to perform.. If it's to sit down and enjoy, it's my preferred device, especially if I want a lot of vape, and say an adult beverage.

With my svd, I know I can grab it, with the aspire (or iclearr30s), some juice and a extra battery, and be good to go with no worry of needling to fiddle.

If given the choice to recoil my russian or a clearomizer such as a kanger (pt or aero), I would do my Russian or another rba first every time. Haven't done nautilus yet. I am seriously not a fan of redoing the smaller tank's coils. Seems like a lot more work, for less reward. However, knowing how to do it, and that I can is a good thing.. While I don't like the kangers as much as the nautilus or Iclear's that I don't or haven't done.. It's nice to have em as backups.. Not too long ago, I was out of Iclear's coils, the nautilus hadn't arrived yet (ordered with the coils), at the last minute I was able to grab a rebuilt Pt and my old but good ego battery for an evening around the fire pit... I probably could have used my svd with the tanks (I had in the past), but I liked having a setup that if should something happen, broke tank, dropped or lost it. I wouldn't cry like a 4 year old girl :)

I agree with many who commend the Aspire Nautilus. I think it's a great tank with great vape. But, like the OP, I'm interested in adding a rebuildable. I've got the Black Kayfun Lite Plus clone on the way from an Ebay auction, and earlier tonight ordered an original from Intaste.de. I have no idea how long it takes the order to come from Germany, but once I have both in hand and successfully completed a build, I'll let you know what I think.

I don't see what you have to lose if it fits your budget. With the glowing recommendations of so many ECF'ers, I don't think you can go wrong.

Good luck!

Hey Hondahawkrider, why would would you not want to vape your Russian 91% in a moving car? Or were you talking about the Nemisis?

I'm wondering about this too. My Kayfuns are work horses... coils last months, dewick/dryburn/rewick once per week, fill and go. I vape while driving all the time. No leaking, flooding, dry hits or any other problems. I use 10-15 ml of e-liquid a day rotating through two kayfuns right now. They are the most trouble-free atomizers I have used... and the vape quality is a fair bit better than my cartotanks and MILES better than my kanger clearomizers.

you may have got a batch of fake or counterfeit coils. There seems to be a lot of counterfeit Nautilus tanks and coils on the market, and buying from a legit vape business, whether it be a b&m or a website, does not guarantee that it is not counterfeit. I got a counterfeit Nautilus tank when I first bought one and the vendor had no idea, they quickly refunded my money. Try scratching off the serial numbers on the back of your product box, and typing them in on the Aspire website. Only way to be sure it is an authentic Aspire product.
