Keeping eliquids away from toddlers

My new grandson is coming to visit for the first time and he's almost two. I worry about him getting into my eliquid so I'm relocating it from a very convenient tabletop in my living room to a high shelf in my bedroom. An inconvenience but obviously necessary for the twe weeks that he is here. How do those of you with little ones around all the time manage to keep it out of their hands? Even if you store it somewhere safe it seems like it would be easy to forget a bottle on a counter because you were refilling your tank and got distracted. Also, have there been any nicotine poisoning incidents with children getting ahold of eliquid? Sadly, it seems like it will only be a matter of time.

Sigh! Yes, no one ever visits.

I suppose if anyone did I could lock the juice in my work bench or gun cabinet.

I keep mine in wooden boxes or in my drawers in my bedroom, which can be locked. And yes there has been reports of small children getting into the nic juice :(

And that is sad but that message just reinforces the message that you put anything away in a safe place to keep the tykes safe. Vaping supplies, cleaning products and even adult beverages.

Goes for pets too. My dogs can get into the darnest places.

Most e-liquid bottles are childproof. Mine are. I'm not saying those are impenetrable by a toddler, but my 3 year old can't open them :)

Also, kids have a knack for getting into ANYTHING they can reach. And most things they can't! (my 3 year old has gotten very clever with moving objects to stand on them, and reach stuff that he couldn't normally reach, LOL).

Anything you don't want the toddlers to get into, move to a place that is high enough where they can't reach it.....and depending on how old they are , high enough to where they can't reach it if they move something to stand up on.

I have a laundry room/bathroom area in my downstairs where i keep my medicines and e-liquids. There is a sink, with a cabinet on the wall above it, works perfectly.

I have 2 young ones . . . .we approach child-proofing in layers .. nothing is ever 100% safe because we're human and can make mistakes - so the idea is to have as many defenses as possible.

Layer 1 - never keep e liquid or PV where small children can get it. When using it, keep it in your pocket vs setting down on a table.
Layer 2 - always use child-proof caps, always lock or turn off PV when not using.
Layer 3 - consistently remind child not to pick up e cig or related. If they ever try to grab my PV or ask to play with it, the answer is always a sharp, firm "No - never touch this - it's dangerous".
Layer 4 - don't let really young kids out of your sight for very long. Seriously . .our 3 year old is never out of our sight for more than a few minutes - and even then we know exactly where she is . .. ie, in her room or the bathroom, etc. If she gets quiet, we go check on her because she gets quiet when she's doing something she's not supposed to be doing (like putting things in the toilet, etc), lol.

There are three places I keep mine. A wall mounted basket in the living room, top of the fridge, and my top shelf in the closet. My son is relentless when it comes to getting into stuff. Look around your house for a place that can't be climbed. Hope all goes well, and enjoy your time with your grandson :)

off topic- I love your avatar.

on topic- Just keep them in a place they wouldn't go, your room in a nightstand or something or in your office with your door closed. If you really are nervous, just keep in them in your car for the time while he is over until he/she gets older and knows not to go searching.

mine are 9 and 6 and know enough to keep out, and I keep it on the top of the fireplace mantle where it is out of sight out of mind of the boys.

at 2 i'd probably put it in a high kitchen cabinet, or in a locked box, or both!
my eldest at 2 would make a beeline for glass the moment i'd avert my gaze and drop it on the white tile floor. he killed about 6 cups, 2 lightbulbs, a couple of glass jars (inc a huge jar of spaghetti sauce on my newly washed white tile!) *sigh*
That kid was obsessed I think!

and you gotta know, I would literally be looking the other direction and he was like houdini! I really never let the cup more than 2" from my hand at all times! crazy!
