Being new to vaping I purchased one of the authentics. I saw a clone at a brick and mortar where I live and the post where the air hole comes out of the deck was raised about a16th of an inch. The guy behind the counter said it was no big deal he just took a grinder to his to smooth it out. You couldn't screw it out. It was just how this clone was produced.

I did so much research on this unit and didn't want to chance wasting money having to mod a tank and destroying it.

It will whistle a bit but it doesn't bother me in the least. It will do it more our less depending on your air flow setting.

I've had my authentic Kayfun Lite + for a couple of months. No air hole whistling noted. Recently I was having some leaking from the air hole in mine which turned out to be a bad o-ring in the top piece upsetting the negative pressure within the tank. Since replacing the o-ring I've had no issues with my KFL+.

It does have a tighter draw than I would like, but removing the air control screw entirely has improved this some. I'm not about to try to drill out the air hole on a $100 tank.

I'm really sold on this rebuildable for a lot of reasons but I keep reading about an annoying whistling sound it produces. Noticed it in some youtube vids and wondered if this is an issue to anyone here? What's your pick of the kayfuns or comparable alternatives?

Had that problem with mine. Drilled the air hole a tiny tiny bit bigger, and no more whistle. Just make sure you do it fast, I know people who have broken off drill bits off going slow

Mine whistles. It's the Boge clone from SureVapes (the cheapest one I could find). It's an incredible flavor machine otherwise, and very well built. I've found that if I adjust the afc screw a bit I can find a spot where the whistling stops and I can still vape. This KFL has the airflow and the control screw on the side, unlike others with the screw on the bottom. Apparently the airflow vent (not the one with the screw) can be bevelled slightly with a dremel or drill, which will stop the whistling. I'll give it a try at some point, but it's not a huge deal. I've also read that if you put a tiny piece of folded metal or a little bit of bent Kanthal in the air hole it will also stop the whistling. The air can still get through but the whistling is defeated because it changes the shape of the hole, which changes the path of the air just enough to discourage the whistle.
