Well, there I was, playing modern warefare 2. I had just put my custom built e-cig in arm of my chair and made the silly mistake of not turning the master on off switch to off. I put my arm and the button pressed down. A hole 7 minutes of it just running and not being vaped at all. Needless to say I melted the cartridge. I saw smoke coming out from my arm chair and well it stinks i'll tell you that. Super glue and melting plastic dont mix at all. I'm hesitant to try and use my spare atty from my passthrough on it. I have enough parts to build another thankfully but it seems I'm gonna have to buy a few more attys. Now all I need is my solder gun back.

Should I try this atty again after a good soaking to remove the nasty melting plastic and filler and juice flavor from it? Or should I just toss it and be on the safe side?

lol, just 1 hour more. Yeah, well the glue is on the inside of the case and didnt get into the atty, just some miniscule amount of smoke got into it as it is barely melted and I used a very time amount as it is. Just wondering if a good soaking would fix this. Sadly it was my better of my 2 attys, the other one really sucks in vapor production, but does ok in the throat hit.

Ouch. I see how something like this could be very easily done. I should use that on and off switch but I really don`t.
Sounds like you have made the same mod box I did. I love it and have also added a strap from a old digital camera to slip around my wrist. I did drop it one time and it landed directly on the stem and the battery cover popped off. But no damage the super glue held up very nicely.

I`ve heard of several times they get turned on sort of like you did but so far yours sounds to be the worse. The funniest was a bed seen and when it got turned on they thought something was biting their .....
Id try cleaning the atty myself with the mouthwash then do a short dry burn to see there is no bad smoke or smell and go from there.

I think I'd heat up the edge where there might be some residue with a lighter or match and then wipe quickly after - have a Qtip handy. But if you decide to toss it, I know where you can get a 901 for a good price ;-)

You should have been using the SCAR rather than the FAMAS..................:sneaky:

I prefer the SCAR w/ heartbeat sensor, scavenger pro, hardline pro, and ninja with akimbo G18's, Stun grenades, and frag grenade. But I have been using the FAMAS for exp points lol.

you really want to risk inhaling melted plastic when you could spend 7 dollars for a new atty?

Well sadly I am broke and will be for quite some time. My bills almost = what I get paid every month. Sadly both attys are really crappy and It's really hard to draw on them. I'm trying to find some extra money to get 5 attys to last for a while, otherwise it's back to rolling again and I'd really hate to do that again. I can't stand the smell of smoke anymore and its only been 9 days. Maybe my fiance will get me a few. Well lets hope for the best. :)

I'm sorry that happened to you. It could be MUCH worse though eh....like burning you or the furniture! This brings up the idea that I hope people here and elsewhere take into consideration that could happen while traveling. It's obvious to all of us it would seem to take one's e-cigs apart when packing in one's luggage. I can just see someone NOT doing this and then they burn up in the bag and start a fire in the belly of a plane!!! THEN the ill word goes out to the rest of the world and on the news about how bad our e-cigs are!

I read on here yesterday that someone dried their attys out by putting them in the oven. My husband paints cars for a living and they have to "bake" them in order to dry the paint. I just asked him and he said that they bake them at 160 degrees. Anything over 180 will fry the electrical system and 160 is the perfect compromise. I wouldn't go over 160 degrees. Use at your own risk but the oven sounds like it would be a good way to melt any residual plastic off of the atty. I wouldn't recommend this but you were contemplating throwing it away so it won't hurt to see if you can bake the plastic off before you chuck it.
