In True Detective, the TV show, a female cop is shown using an e-cigarette (admittedly a vanilla-as-hell-buy-while-you-buy-gas) type. First another cop asks disdainfully 'is than an electric cigarette' as if it's some kind of fashion statement, then another cop remarks that 'it reminded him of sucking robot d**k). As if this isn't bad enough, the female cop then gives up on it and goes full-on back to analogues.
It doesn't really influence the plot in any way, but I thought this was slightly irresponsible and also inaccurate. Clearly the writers are saying that e-cigarettes are no match for the real deal when times are hard, which we all know isn't the case if you've got the right kit, and that e-cigarettes are to be made fun of, which again, happens but shouldn't.
Anyway, just my two cents for the day, as vaping hasn't yet been represented much in mainstream fiction.
