i've always heard and said it it 'kay-arr-eight', but to each their own also, good to see a fellow pennsylvanian kicking around, so hello from pittsburgh!
Although the abbreviation has been officially recognized by ECF (notice the mouse-over for Kr8), "808" predominates. This is unfortunate. There are many other ...808 models – very different from the KR808D-1, e.g., the DSE808 (a Joye Stick clone) and other Kanger KR808... (non-cartomizer) models.
It's an unfortunate and possible confusing shorting as it can designate several models some of which are not compatible. Although I do use it when, from other info, I know the person is speaking of the KR808D-1, when uncertain which model they're asking about, I'll usually write it out. In my mind and in speaking to others I say Kay-R-8.
