I have a strange issue with a pair of KSD eGo VV 900mah pass-through devices that repeatedly cut-out when fully charged. I have learned that a carto can "crackle" and 'pop' a bit while atomizing, but this seems to go beyond that sometimes. Occasionally the unit will let out a sharp "snap" sound and shut-down for a moment, always resetting itself to the minimum power setting. Sometimes it will quietly reset with no abnormal sound whatsoever if a bridgeless LR atty is attached. When the button is pressed immediately following a reset it takes 2 to 3 seconds before any sizzling sound is again heard as the device begins to atomize liquid. I can immediately set the power back to any setting and the light also comes on immediately and it will usually be fine for a few drags, but will continue to cut-out repeatedly and randomly for several minutes regardless of frequency of use.
Once the units have been used for ~20 minutes of normal vaping they settle down some and go increasingly longer periods before cutting out again and will eventually stop acting up all together. One of the pair is decidedly more prone to this issue and even gets worse should one attach a low resistance tank carto such as the Smoktech 1.5 ohm dc carto and tank. Then they will snap and pop a lot even without resetting themselves. The arcing(?) sound decreases with the charge as well. I have used 3 different methods to charge the devices with no discernable difference. I also have ensured the "button" on top of the battery is perfectly centred and that it is very clean in that area.
I did spill a bit of juice on that contact area when the units were brand new, but carefully cleaned them using a bit of isopropyl alcohol on a Q-Tip and edge of a folded paper towel. There appears to have been no trace at all of liquid there for some time now aside from the occassion tiny dot. I am of the opinion that the snapping sound is very much like an arcing sound and am somewhat certain that it is coming from the connection area, but could be wrong there. The one very consistent aspect to this is the state of charge. If they are fully charged they do it much more frequently, and as the battery drains down the problem eventually goes away completely. they have both been doing this from the get-go and show no sign of getting any better -- nor worse for that matter. The issue is decidedly consistent with the charge level.
Hope you guys have some ideas. Tom @ Canvape is also baffled by this failure and is more than happy to warrantee them for me, but I would really like to understand this issue rather than return them without discovering the problem first. Thanks in advance for any reponses.
