Hi! I'm new to vaping. I started is April and so far my journey has been successful with ditching analogs. I started off trying a cheap kit from a local head shop. It tasted horrible, but I liked the concept and the feel of it. A week later I bought the Tornado tank system from Totally Wicked. I like how convenient it is to use. Dripping and carts seemed like a pin in the ..... So far it has been easy for me to use. My only complaint is occasional leaking that happens when the battery is getting low.
Now, here is my problem. Flavor. I don't know if it's me, or if I should try a different model. I have tried different e liquids and it always seems like flavor strength is inconsistent. Sometimes it's great and I almost can't get enough, and other days I can't taste anything. I seen some people say your taste buds take time to come back, and that can pose a problem. My saddest moment was when I bought Cheese Cake e liquid from DIY Flavorshack. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that flavor!!! I got it in double flavor and holy cow it is amazing. But...all of a sudden I was getting nothing. I switched flavors and still...bleh. It seems like the only flavor I consistently taste is mint or menthol. :(
So I guess my big question: Is it me? Is the tank system lacking with flavor delivery? If so, what is a good, easy to use model that puts out a lot of flavor?

I too think the tanks have something to do with it. Try as I might -- and boy, did I try, 7 A-type and 4 B-type atomizers later -- I just couldn't get those fussy little things to taste right or produce satisfying vapour. The wick placement has to be juuust right, the liquid has to be thin enough, you have to give it frequent priming puffs, clean it often -- and even then they weren't satisfying to me. Bland flavour, weak TH, little vapour.

I switched to dual coil cartos and haven't looked back. Currently using the EMDCCs and they're just fantastic. Consistent, flavourful, lots of vapour, great TH. I've also got a 510 with a LR carto going and even that's working far better than the tanks ever did for me.

Primarily PG based mixes will produce more flavour as a general rule over VG based mixes. A healthy flavour/vapour balance can be obtained by going for a 50/50 70/30 80/20 PG/VG mix.

For pure strong, strong flavours you may consider trading out VG altogheter and going with straight up PG mixes.

Bare in mind some other factors here. It's early days, your tastes are still adjusting from the poisons from smoking. Not all juices are made equal, some are very subtle mixes which only revel their true qualities after 2 weeks + steeping. This is especially true of juices freshly batched.

Device and delivery can and will make a difference to flavour. In my experience with them I found Tank systems especially lacking in flavour.

Some vendors will allow you to even chose the flavour of your juices or allow you to contact them on orders asking they make them stronger for you.

Once your confident enough to try it, you can get into making your own juices and thus have full control over the flavour and strength of them.

A lot of people have complained about flavor with Ego tanks. I don't know why. Remember to smell the vapor - most of the flavor is in the aroma, just like with food. And you might want to try cartomizers for some of your favorite juices. I think more people use cartomizers than tanks, and Boge are the most popular cartomizers.

It's a combination of things. Your taste buds are just now starting to turn around and you will experience the lost ability to taste your juices. It will come back in about a week. Also, since majority of juices are handmixed when ordered, they need time to steep. Don't toss any of them. Tuck them away in a cool, dark place for 7-10 days or longer. And last but not least, the biggest complaint about the tank system is flavor loss. My suggestion is to get yourself a box of Boge cartomizers. These will work with your batteries and will provide you better flavor, vapor, and TH. If you choose this route, get yourself a drip tip for the cartos. It will make refilling easier.

Thanks guys! The info and opinions are helpful. I'll give the cartomizers a try next and see if that helps.

EDIT:
Just tried drinking a big tall glass of water before my morning vape and blowing the vapor through my nose to get the smell and noticed an improvement. I'm still going to try cartomizers though since I see people raving about them all the time.

I don't know how accurate this is, but I was having similar problems so I posted it on another forum am was told that menthol can have a deadening effect on the tastebuds. I got menthol with my starter kit and was loving it, but mixing my own with 30+% flavour was pretty flavourless. I have stopped using menthol and within 48 hours I was tasting stronger flavours and getting the subtler notes. It might have been my juice maturing, but it might be worth a try 
