I finally read and finished "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" last night. I have had this book for awhile now and I kept putting it off and reading other books in my Nook. Everyone kept asking and asking when I was going to read it, I was like geeze, let me read this book so everyone will leave me alone....so glad I did. Wonderful book, it can be graphic at times, but it fit with the story. I do look forward to the other 2 books in the series. When I did finish, I did fire up Netflix to watch the Swedish version of the movie and it followed the book quite nicely.

Yeah, Fudgey, Evanovich is pretty funny. I saw the trailer for 'One For the Money" that is in theaters on January 27th. I am not sure I want to see the movie though. My experience watching a movie from books I really like have almost always been a disapointment.
CES, JR Ward writes in a genre I don't read much (Paranormal Romance) but I so like JR Ward Black Brotherhood Series I have read each one that comes out. .

The movies are never the same :(

Out of all the books I have read.....and I've read a lot.... I absolutely LOVE Juliet Marilier's Daughter of the Forest. It is the first book in the Sevenwaters series...they are all great reads, but don't make a lick of sense if you don't read them in order. She lives in Australia, but is Welsh and comes from a community with a long line of skilled story tellers. Her Sevenwaters series is a blending of ancient stories passed down through the generations from the old country. She actually responded to an email I had sent her...and told me where her inspiration had come from! This particular book had me sucked in on the very first page, and no other had been able to do that for me.
I love reading old stories....magical, fanciful, and historically pleasing. I love reading about ancient irish and norse mythology, fae folk, and druids. These have everying....love, sex, faith, war, betrayal, loyalty, fear, and deep sadness. Currently, I'm not reading anything...but am really tempted to pick these back up again and read them again.

I started watching the Swedish version of that movie, I need to finish it. I want to see the new one they have and see if they changed things around.

I haven't read the thirst series. will go look for it.

I loved the girl with the dragon tattoo series. I'd avoided reading it at first, but got hooked as soon as i started it. The swedish movies are suprisingly close to the books. I usually like either the book or the movie, but in this case i liked both.

I read a lot of trashy romance novels, it's my guilty pleasure lol.

I love the Harry Potter and Twilight series, have read them multiple times! My fav author is Jane Austen, my fav genre is historical romance. I could (and have!) read all day, every day, but free time is so scarce these days that I'm mostly reading school books and ECF lol.

As a kid I had to read all of the time, I'd read the cereal boxes while I was eating breakfast. Reading and playing games are the only things that I can focus on for any period of time with my ADHD, outside of reading and playing I have the attention span of a 2 year old lol. I have a lot of those free historical novels on my phone, and I read them when I'm waiting in waiting rooms.

Never heard of Dan Brown......another name to add to my list. Thanks Toto :D

You've heard of his books, The DaVinci Code, and Angels and Demons. Both came out as movies starring Tom Hanks in the past few years. I think I have one of the books laying around here somewhere, but haven't read it yet.

I remember all of the controversy from it, my family refused to see it because it was against their "religion" Entertainment value is what it's about! It's a well written and well acted story!

These are the same people who thought Harry Potter and Pokemon shouldn't be watched/played by kids  Kids understand fantasy and fiction, why don't adults?

I always thought the Harry Potter thing was stupid..they have Christmas Vacation..not winter break and Easter break...not spring,They have more Religion then our school system! Not one "Devil" is mentioned, the whole message is family, friends and good over evil.

The Davinci Code is a work of fiction..much like The X-men..please, Dan Brown just used real places and some real people to tell a great story and pose some interesting senarios.
People who can't tell the difference between a work of fiction and a documentary..need to go to OZ! They have position for scarecrow open!

Yeah. I remember my church telling parents not to let their kids play pokemon because this one kid had a nightmare with pokemon in it. So does that mean I shouldn't talk to certain people so they won't feature in my nightmares? Lol.

Then I better get a divorce :facepalm::laugh:

MK.....you are so right. I know a lot of people who would qualify for that scarecrow position....LOL

I haven't meant a Dan Brown book I didn't like. To me his interesting senarios provide some very thought provoking concepts. My son and I were talking this morning about "mind over matter" that he mentions in The Lost Solution. We have talked before about how some of the real people mentioned in this book were ahead of the times.
