I'm with ya thatgirl and bigeyes. David Sadaris is soooooo funny! I have all of his books on my ipod and listen to them over and over. It's great cause he reads them! Funny story: I was painting the fence in one of the cow lots at our farm while listening to one of his books. It was the lot with the calfs in it and they were quite scared of me. I laughed so loud one time that all the calf tried to run thru the fence :) Lucky it was a new fence!

I read most everything except sci-fi (gives me heebie jeebies) and don't care much for romance anymore. In my to read stack, are Bret Hartes Gold Rush, Ken Follets The pillars of the Earth, Pioneer Women, Janet Evanovich (hysterical) Plum Lucky. I really like period pieces and history. The 1491 and The Indifferent Stars Above from CZs list piqued my interest!

I want a Kindle...should stop buying e-cigs for a while!

I am reading Jane Evanovich now. She is funny. Good, light reading. I go back a forth. I will spend a while reading non-fiction and then I need a break and read fiction. Then I hit a time when I need to just do some fun light reading and she works well for this. So does Charlaine Harris and Christopher Moore.

I loved the Sassy Tree and The Book Thief.

When I was reading non-fiction I really, really enjoyed Lone Survivor. If anything could make you believe in miracle this book can.

Yup, thats what I do. My biggest problem is that once I start a book I can't put it down. sigh

Welcome Jennee, Please have a cupa, put your feet up and enjoy.
I am the daughter of an A.F. Sgt. and the wife of one (ret). Military families stick by each other. We try to do the same here..post, start a topic or just read..welcome to ECF.

I like to rotate topics as well. It's like e-liquid flavors, I get tired of one and move on for a while. LOL
I like the true crime shows on T.V.

I read the same authors! Though Jeaniene Frost is new...I'll have to check her out. Kim Harrisons' new book came out today (once dead twice shy) but it's a young adult book...not sure about it for me, though I did enjoy Twilight series.
Laurell K. Hamilton has a new book out tomorrow :D
Shimmy I think I love you
I'm wanting to check out the YA book of Harris.
And you bet I got the new books that came out this week!
Anita and Betsy in the same day, it's like a holiday!

In fact..I've been known to read cereal boxes when all else fails. :p

Ohhhhhhhh... me too:thumbs: when we moved house a while back [down sizing] my daughter had a count up... over 3000... Yep I know... enough to open a small library. In fact, my dream home would be somewhere big enough to house my own library.

Just a few of my favourite authors:

Female
Jean M Auel [Earth's Children series]
Charlotte Bronte [Jane Eyre]
Emily Bronte Wuthering Heights]
Jane Austin [Pride & Prejudice]
Cynthia Harrod-Eagles [The Dynasty series... great historical stuff]
Val McDermid [anything by her...bit gory]
Kathy Reichs [anything by her]

Male
Isaac Asimov [great Science Fiction... he set the stage for all robot stories]
Dean R. Koontz [great prose... descriptive passages to die for...]
Stephen King [anything by him]
John Grisham [anything by him]
Michael Crichton [anything by him]
Lee Childs [anything by him]
James Patterson [anything by him]

I like true crime and mysteries. My favorite authors are Ann Rule and Tammi Hoag.

And Nziese - I like your signature. My husband is in the military. :)

Thanks to both of you for your sacrifice. I have nothing but respect for our guys who serve our country.

Right now I am reading vampire books. Not the real dark scary ones but the lighter ones like Sookie Stackhouse. P.C. Cast has a series out that is fast light reading. Now I'm reading a series by Jennine Frost.

When I get tired of vampires and werewolves I have a ton of other books waiting to be read.

Cori, have you read his By the light of the moon or Ticktock? I didn't want to read Tick Tock because I was tired of stalker style books..who knew it was a comedy? later I listened to it on CD..I downloaded it and listened in other words. It was even funnier. I want to read "Relentless".

Cas, You need to try one of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's books, Start with Relic. (It was made into a movie, but of course they had to lose a lot to make it fit the hour and a half format).
Kathy Reichs's books are so different then the "Bone's" T.V. show based on them.

I think I have read most if not all of his stuff. Have you noticed how he seems obsessed with the moon in a lot of his books? I just love the 'Odd Thomas' ones.

Thanks for the tip MaryKay, I'm always looking for someone new to read & yes the 'Bones' TV show is not much like the books.

The cover creeped me out on Tick Tock! It really is like one of the old Katherine Hepburn comdies with a twist.
Yes, Cas, I love Oddie, but I like Chris Snow better! (Fear Nothing, Seize the night) I wish he would have Odd visit Chris and fix the whole mess thus end the trilogy.
Cori, That's why I listen to books on tape, cd and on the net. It's easy on the eye and ear! LOL
By the light of the moon is about an artist and his autistic brother who have a crazy doctor infect them with something that "changes" them. They meet a girl (of course) who has had the same shot. Koontz weirdness ensues.
