It seems it took me longer than others to discover the vape world. It is a lot to take in at once but I plan on doing my reading and getting into the game.
Welcome to the forums, if you want to chat click above where it says live chat, there is generally some one in there all hours of the day.

Stating out in a nutshell:
Avoid the ones that look like cigarettes, the batteries dont last long per charge.
100mah = about an hour
VV or Variable Voltage allows you to adjust the temperature of the vapor and can improve certain characteristics.
If you must use a cig like battery the volts seem to be the best received.
510 is the most common connector type.
Back ups you need backups! At a minimum 2 batteries, 1 charger, and 2 juice delivery systems.

Good luck and have fun!

venter,

Definately take a look at Smokless Image www.smoklessimage.com . I am in no way affiliated with them, but started with their "Standard Starter Kit". It provides you with everything you need to get fully into vaping. When you are ready, you can move up to their X2, using the same charger as is in the Standard Kit as well as the accessories. Their customer service is the BEST, and their forum under the "Forum Suppliers Tab" is also friendly and helpful. Good Luck in your journey to quit regular cigarettes.

Wow, thanks for the info. I think I will start with a cig like and then move on as I learn more.

Nothing wrong with that at all.

My 2 cents (this is what I've gotten several pals started with, very hassle free)

Vapor4Life

get a 2 or 3 XL batteries (manual-which means it has a button)

grab a 3ml tank and a few cartos for it under tanks and blanks

and don't forget a charger

look for a juice you may like- probably a tobacco flavor (I'd stay with 18mg nicotine at the minimum to get started with..24mg would be my top choice)

This set up is as good as gold for newbs and seasoned vaper types. I've been on them for aver a year with no problems..also, under their weekly specials, they usually have great deals on 808 threaded ego batteries that work like a charm with the above mentioned tank system.

Good luck!

edit: the ego batteries are going to last longer between charges. Handy if you're on the move during the day.

edit edit (lol) Also, I think you can request some samples.. Not sure, but I think they will send yu some pre-filled cartos if you're not sure about flavors. Just as an idea, I really like #7 which is out of stock I think. But the traditional tobacco and 555 suit me just fine.

Welcome to ECF! I am going to disagree with the above posters. Those that use the cig-a-likes will most likely end up with a larger battery since the constant charging drives them nuts. You are getting into this at a good time, there are a lot more choices than in the past. There are a lot of people on here who have been around a while and can give you some sound advice.

I will agree with the variable voltage though. These days there are the chinese batteries and the battery holders. The difference is that with a battery holder you take out the battery and exchange it for a charged battery rather than charge the entire thing. This is a benefit as you need only one device rather than several, you just need several batteries that will last you a year rather than a few months. Bear in mind that the chinese batteries are all disposable, but these are good for backups or for taking with you on the run so if you lose them it is no big deal.

The eGo (and the Spinner) are very popular and are disposables, they will charge ~250 times before they die. You can buy them in maH from 400 (the mini) and above 1000 maH. They have 510 connections, so you can put all kinds of juice delivery systems on them.

Good luck giving up the cigarettes, and stay away from the cheap proprietary products that don't use universal connectors. Have fun learning!

Actually you are entering just at the right time. You are here at a point where companies are spending loads of money to "invent" the next revolutionary items. They see the money that people are willing to spend to stay off the analogs and their is a lot of competition to make the holy grail device that takes over the vaping world.

This This This man I wish I had done this! I have wasted so much money on "cheep" kits that aren't that cheep really. If you really have to start with a cig-a-like get one with 510 connections.

Hello venter and welcome . For cig sized and pen style Smokeless Image is highly recommended ,others have their favorites. Whatever you choose, know that it probably won't be your last .More accessories are available for whats called a 510 battery connection than any other connection. Though Smokeless Image products are not 510 connections, they are well a received product and adapters are available from other sites to allow you to use devices with different thread patterns. Good luck, and again ,welcome.

Do your research. I started with an eGo two months ago. I now have a LavaTube (VV) a Bolt and several tanks. I use cartos at home and the tanks when Im out and about. There are TONS of e-cig sites out there. Just Google and start looking.

There are several internet channels out there for live vaping info, and free give aways. Find what kind of vapor you are, and go from there. I vape heavy, hence the LavaTube, bigger battery and I can change the taste some.
