A friend of mine sent me this little mod to check out. He was raving about it so I HAD to check it out because in my experience a mech mod is a mech mod. The Lock brought some things to the table that I haven't had in a mech mod yet. It's price point is such that anyone can get on deck with a mech mod and safely build and use their rda/rba set ups. This is a big question in the shop I work in. "How can I get a good mech mod without breaking the bank?" The Lavafire Lock is the best answer I've come up with.

First of all this mod is LIGHT. I don't mean "not very bulky" I'm talkin' feathers folks (35g). Even with an 18650 IMR installed I hardly notice that it's in my pocket and have literally looked around for the mod when it was already on me. It makes the K100 seem like an anchor. It doesn't feel cheap though. It's a solid unit. I don't feel like I'm going to break it when I snatch it up for a vape and (this is a huge peev of mine) it doesn't rattle. I don't have any fears of tossing it in my bag along with the rest of the daily carry. It does use a plastic locking function which I feel should have been made of aluminum but I don't know that aluminum would be any stronger than plastic to be honest. Never the less I haven't had any issues out of it so I won't complain.

The manufacturer didn't sacrifice any aesthetic appeal for weight either (links to pictures will be added soon). The one that I'm using is metallic blue and is a really slick looking mod I think. They left out all the unnecessary flares and nonsense for a really clean looking mech mod. It's classy and discrete. There are paths for airflow and a solid (stainless) 510 mount for your carto/atty and that's about it. A very shallow drip well makes for easy cleaning (no q-tips or wadded tissues, a paper towel every now and again is fine). All in all I love the look. I'm also really impressed with the size of the Lock. It's really small (around 2.5"with an 18350 installed). Not uncomfortable though. Inconspicuous is probably the best word. It's size matches it's function. It's a PV not a ..... This thing is for vaping on the go not decorating your room.

My one qualm with this unit is what I can only assume is a conductivity issue. It doesn't hit quite as hard as some of my other mech mods. It's not a huge difference but the Lock seems a little anemic on the drag sometimes. DON'T LET THIS SWAY YOU. That's the way it came to me. No contact modification has been done so I'm sure a little effort on my part will fix the issue.

You can't beat the price of the Lock. You can snag one of these bad boys up for about $40.00 USD. It's ideal for someone looking for an inexpensive quality unit to start experimenting with subohms or building in general. The manufacturer is Beauticig and you can check it out on their website.

Liking the locking mechanism. Not liking how so many mech mods require the use of two hands to unlock. Thanks for the review. I'm taking the liberty of adding a picture.

Edit: Haven't tried it. Just basing the what I say on what I see.
