Lavatube BCT Tubetank disappointment

Honestly, I had only been vaping about a week before getting this kit from Volcano. Purchased the whole Lavatube starter kit because I had done a bit of research, not too much due to lack of knowledge, but enough to go with a quality product. The vaping is great, when it works. The tank has been very inconsistent. I am new to vaping, but a very tech/mechanical savvy person. Do my own auto maintenance and I work on avionics systems to include wiring on F-15s in the Air Force. These devices aren't complicated. I have been through 3 of Volcano's 3.5 ohm coils in 2 weeks and I already know it is the tank design. I vape around 9.5 watts and sometimes, I'll get a burnt taste with no flavor that is horrible. I use a 30/70 PG/VG mix from Zeus Juice that I love.

After 6 days, the O ring snapped on my tank base with no immediate replacement so I had to order a 3 pack and wait 4 days. So I decided on a back up plan from my local smoke shop. A Kangertech Protank 2 Mini with a 650 mah Evod set up. Nothing flashy, just a backup plan. No issues, great draw and never a burnt taste on the same juice. After going with another coil on my Lavatube, I have experienced more burnt draws in less than 12 hours. I have now ordered an Aspire Nautilus to go with as my daily tank when it arrives. Many good reviews about that tank and my Volcano BCT will end up as a last line of defense.

I have a couple of the Volcano tube tanks. They're alright but the cartos you get with them are pretty inconsistent. It seems like you get at least one bad one for every pack of 5 you buy. I'm liking my Mini Protank 3s a lot better, just a more solid piece of equipment, and more consistent flavor from my juice. And I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about the Nautilus, I'm sure you'll like it.

Many good reviews about that tank and my Volcano BCT will end up as a last line of defense.

We have an expression in the UK - A "curate's egg" - it describes something that is at least partly bad, but has some arguably redeeming features.

Everybody knows what Volcano's game is; sell ordinary products for high prices and 'fix' the internet reviews for the products.

A Lavatube itself is often a good mod (I have one) but I expect the tank is clone of something already on the market. In typical Volcano fashion, they don't even state if it's BDC or BVC. They are hard to stomach really.

I never recommend Volcano (they are 'approved' on here) to UK folks.

Just be thankful you got a decent mod. Oh, and don't tell Volcano you used a 3rd party tank if you need to send it back under warranty.

Good luck. :)

So shortly after posting, all went down hill again. While vaping, sounded like my coil would lose heat after 2 sec every draw, then had a gurgling sound. Haven't filled it since last night on the new coil, never laid on its side. Took the tank apart, tried a dry burn. Would heat up, but not enough to glow orange after 10 attempts at a 2-3 sec dry burn. Dried everything, put it back together and refilled. Waited 10 min, couple slow dry pulls and still tons of gurling. BCT Tubetank is now retired. I'm done with it, I don't want to even look at it. One week, 3 coils, busted and replaced O ring. This tank is 5 stars for the first half tank. After that, it's a wash. Great customer service with Volcano, but that tank is just not a great match with its counterpart mod.
