Leaded glass windows. Very interesting. I haven't tried it yet. Maybe it would make me as mad as a hatter, heheh.

Try welding galvanized or zinc plated parts if you want to find out what fumes will do. Or spray zinc chromate primer. There have been a few times that I have lain in bed at night and thought about dying to get me out of my misery.

I worked in a machine shop for a while....one of the guys started cutting up galvanized ! With the shop closed up ! Idiot !

If I thought the lead tests and gear cost me a penny, the resulting divorce settlement from this would probably put me under a bridge. ;-) -Magnus

Yup I'm sure it would, but you know what I meant that's for sure :p thanks for doing that test on the Attys/Carto Mangus, mighty nice of ya !!!!

Morning report on another experiment.. this is so out-my-.... I have no idea if it means anything but I was curious.

I left some cherry ejuice and a piece of lead-positive post/solder in a oil diffuser overnight that I put a votive under instead of the normal tea-light size. It got the plate MUCH hotter. Right above the ejuice pool I places a snippet of the testing paper they include for testing air-vents. After a full nine hours and the ejuice all burned away it did change colors to the lowest exposure level which matched the same level they described as old lead-paint that had been painted over to safe levels.

*shrug* Totally unscientific but I figured I would try to simulate some sort of vaping situation. Without setting up hoses and creating a disaster area for my toddler to get at. -Magnus

Wow, this thread exploded (for good reason). As you can see in the old quoted thread, the guy who was going to test never came back. I've been wondering about this for a while then I forgot about it. Thanks for doing this 'magnus'.

I think more/continued testing by others would be good. Staying on top of this is a good idea. Your last post 'magnus' is something I was going to suggest; letting the juice sit a while in a known lead solder and testing the juice.

So if I read correctly, the three CE2's that tested positive were older and two of the three had positive lead results on the outside? Were these r3 or r4 (r3 didn't have the black shrink wrap around the cup, at least the earlier ones didn't).

I mostly have old CE2's and am using the last bit of them up now...

I didn't know that is how you could differentiate. All three were R3 based on the above. -Magnus

Hmm...interesting indeed. We learned a while ago you can't go by the date on the box either, so here's a basic list of the revisions:

r2- Plastic cup, hard plastic filler ring
r3- Ceramic cup, no black shrink wrap
r3.5 aka 'bastomizers'- Some came w/ filler installed, etc
r4- Black shrink wrap around cup
r5- Factory never recognized this number but vendors were applying this to the clearomizers
r6- Fat wicks, Martinez himself called these r6 to a supplier

I think it's important to think of the metal and clears as two different lines in a sense...
Also, many vendors didn't put r5 on their websites because they got reports that some of the boxes had a mixture of the old and new wick styles...or no new fat wicks at all.

My r5 clearos and metals both had fat wicks...both were supposedly pre-burned or otherwise guranteed that they had not used the 'funky anti-bacteria chem' in them.

I think r6 is for clearos with fat wicks and thicker plastic on the clearo sleeves.

Two more batches past r5/6, no idea what they call them...

The black jacket on the ceramic cup doesn't go as far up anymore...so the wicks don't get squished or pinched against the sleeves as much.

They now send metal syringe needles in the box instead of those flimsy nylon ones.
