Leaking Phoenix BC

Hello all, just got 15 of the Phoenix bottom coils and one of them is crazy leaking. It looks like the seal ring (with the fill hole in it) is deformed a little, and air is getting through between the seal and the plastic tube, causing the whole tank to empty in about 30 seconds all over the desk.

If held upside down, you can see the juice (or water after I realized and wanted to see what it was doing) coming around the seal and just dripping out.

I did try removing and reseating the seal but to no avail. I guess I will just hold on to it and when one of my good ones starts to go snag the seal out of that one and use it.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen something like this and if so how common is it? This is my first order of these and the other 14 are working great and like them just about as much as my vivi nova tank, maybe even a little more.

I haven't heard about something like this happening a lot (or at all, to be honest), and it seems to me that this carto is pretty reliable, but I am not an expert on these, I prefer top coils. Maybe one of the local Phoenix BC fanatics will chime in - it's a cult, I swear.

GV does sell these seals separately (and cheaply) - but they are out of stock right now.

Cult? Humph!!! I'm really sorry I don't have an explanation. I've had 15 of these since they first came out and I've never had that happen. My only dead one (the innards aren't dead) was caused by my trying to force a drip tip on that split the tube. Maybe some one else has the answer?

Sounds like a defective seal. When held upside down, you shouldn't see any leakage around the seal, normally.

No, that's not common at all. It's just bad luck. I've purchased 15 over time and I haven't had a single seal cause me any trouble whatsoever. Even the fill holes are still working out great and haven't been widened to the point of weakening the vacuum pressure.

So, worry not! You're not likely to see that at all with future Phoenixes.

If it is the top post seal, I have used the mouthpiece seal to replace those. Use a small size paper clip to put a hole through it before installing. Being small it seals itself well but also gives a lead for the syringe to get through when filling. This has worked well for me with the two tempermental leakers I have had. The only other cause I can see would be the center post not seating all the way in the coil housing. And last but not least a manufacturing defect in the wick assemble. Did you happen to notice if both holes at the base have some wick protruding?
