Hubby & I took a break today, headed up to the mountains for a picnic. At about 8,000 ft. the poor bottle in my REO just couldn't take it any more. The pressure was just to much and juice came up the tube filled the drip cup and ran down the side of the mod. Took me a minute to figure out what had happened to fill my hand with juice. Unscrewed the bottle to let the pressure off and it was good to go again. I guess going from 2,000 ft to 8,000 ft was just to much. LOL! So if your drastically changing altitude don't forget to loosen the cap on your juice. On the way up & on the way down. 8p

I had read about the effect of altitude changes with the Reo here is some thread while I was waiting to get my Reo, but forgot about it very quickly. The first trip with my Reo, a few days after receiving it, was to Reno, and involved crossing over the Sierra Nevada. We were just about at the summit when we stopped at a rest stop. I got the Reo out of the pocket on the car door and realized it had flooded, but still wasn't thinking about the 'why' part. I went out and sat on the hillside on a rock and decided to change the bottle for a different flavor, and when I unscrewed the bottle juice went everywhere:facepalm: That's when I realized what the issue was. What an experience!

I assume the same advice would apply during takeoff and landing in an airplane?

Not so much with the Reo. Any carto-tanks you may have should be watched closely...and clearomizers. I only had one tank leak (and I fly a lot) but it made a nice mess. The Reo handles it well but you may not want to top it off just before getting on the plane. Maybe halfway.

Juice in your checked luggage is another story. Double bag that stuff. The pressure difference in the cargo hold is much greater. I had one explode all over the inside (it had a defective cap...I KNEW it had a defective cap...and I still put it in there:facepalm:)

Earlier this year, in Denver, several of us, all vapers, were reminded about our REO bottles, when we took a day trip to 10K. A very graphic way to show someone what happens is to take a well sealed bag of chips driving to much higher altitude. The air in bag expands significantly.

DH air travels virtually every week. He doesn't have leaking with REOs or Mini ViVi Nova Tank as long as they are in his pocket or carry on bag.

I know what you mean about the chips, I used to take cases of small chip bags up the mountain to the ski area when they would run low. It would scare the crap out of me when they would sometimes start popping open. Makes a BIG bag, thought I had a tire blowout the first time it happened.
