I just build my first coil using the kanthal (not even sure what gauge it is) that came with it. Not the prettiest thing in the world but it heats up from the centre so that'll do for me at the moment. But one thing I noticed is the ohms fluctuate between 0.62 and 0.64. Is that a cause for concern.

Also lemo 2 users, mind sharing what builds works for you.

I do 6 wraps of 24g, contact coil, 3mm. It comes out to 0.7. If it's moving you might have to tighten the screws down some more. It's not a big jump so it'll probably be fine til the tank is empty. The lemo is finicky to wick, but works extremely well if setup right. I have 2 of them. At over 70vg I had to dremel the deck some to make the juice channels bigger and put notches in the chimney to open the juice channels as well.

I'll try tightening the screws after I finish the tank. Screws are so small, I was afraid I might strip it or round the head.

Welcome to one of the many frustrating as !@#$ issues w/ the Lemo 2's that shipped at various dates.

TMK, _ALL_ Lemo 2s shipped with a kanthal coil prebuilt in them. At that point it becomes a bloody mess ..

A majority of early adopters reported the spare wire provided was nichrome, not kanthal. A magnet is your friend here - if it's magnetic, it's kanthal.

Then suddenly at some point our local shop got Lemo 2 kits with clearly kanthal spare wire in them. Nothing else seemed to change.

THEN the prebuilt wrap sets you can get in a bag switched from what appeared to be kanthal to nichrome. And the Ni prebuilts never materialized.

In terms of basic fluctuations, nichrome will fluctuate a bit more than kanthal at various temperatures. If it's within a few blips, you're a-OK. If it's bouncing whole tenths, something is wrong.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it was kanthal that came with my Lemo 2, I think it was something else. Not sure if it matters much, since you know your Ohms. Good luck!

(I suspect you know this but for the benefit of others ..)

It matters A LOT to know what came with it - and for eLeaf to be bloody consistent about it. If they had shipped kanthal on the deck and then put Ni200 wires (as once specified), then powering up Ni200 in power mode would be a bloody disaster for a bunch of people.

In terms of providing a template to help people reproduce results - having the standard deck build material match what's in the rest of the kit would've been nice too.

eLeaf dropped this ball on an otherwise great tank setup. -Mags

Thanks magnus. That was very informative. My sets didn't come with a prebuilt coil though. It fluctuates by 0.01 ohm so I guess is nichrome. But I'm gonna check with a magnet to be sure.

So a few other tips to maximize your Lemo 2 experience:
  1. Use nitrile gloves when handling the coil, some of the oils on your hands can make it taste terrible
  2. Google 'pancake method' or 'tie fighter method' for your cotton, I even do the brushing it out for best results
  3. Don't throw it against a wall when it leaks on you while you're getting the hang of rebuilds ;-)
Then when rebuilding losing its appeal look at the Delta 2 or the Smok TFV4. ;-) Best of both worlds type of thing ..

I'll definitely take point number 1 and 2 into consideration. As for point 3 I've learned the proper way to refill the tank so it hasn't leaked once.

I fired my Lemo 2 up with the pre-installed coil. Tasted disgusting.

Learnt my lesson a will bin all pre-installed in future.

Back to the question. I'm currently running my Lemo 2 with a 28g Twisted (two strand), 3mm ID, 5 wrap, 0.65ohm coil.

I'd highly recommend twisted wire if you want increased vapour production and flavour out of a subohm single coil tank.

It's incredibly easy to make and install twisted wire :)

This thread reminded me it was time to clean the coil and re-wick. The coil is a month old, and I believe this is my third rewicking... which is pretty good for me.

This is a juice chugger though. I often go through a whole tank in 15-20 minutes, chain-vaping while sitting in a chair on my deck or while working. Thankfully I DIY so it's all good.

The statements "but works extremely well if setup right", "I had to dremel the deck some" are a bit contradictory to me. Having to dremel a deck, and chimney is not working extremely well IMO. To me if it were working extremely well, there would be no need for end user modifications.

At over 70% vg, which is fairly thick. If you're going to vape high vg, you need a deck with large channels like the tfv4, billow, or other large juice channel rtas, or modify the ones that have smaller channels. If i vape 70vg, it's fine stock. Not every tank is designed for every individual preference. It works great, absolutely wonderful if wicked correctly with 70vg or less ratio.

Cool. I might try this the next time i need to change my coils. Maybe clapton as well.
