Need help with my tugboat coil build. I'm trying to build a coil with a resistance between .5 and 1 ohm but hopefully something around .7 ohms. Since im using the tugboat v1 it doesnt support single coil and i only have 24 gauge kanthal at the moment. Thanks in advanced.

Why not just do single coil and leave airflow wide open?
I think you need 3.0mm diameter and 14/15 wraps per coil. if I'm thinking correctly. Someone else can provide you a link to a calculator for building, I don't have links to them.

if you really, really want to block off the other air hole, you can just stuff some extra cotton into the one that isn't being used. Also, Steam Engine | free vaping calculators is a great calculator for building your coils.

I guess the V1 doesn't allow you to close off air holes on one side? I have the v2 and it does - just rotate the top cap inside the barrel. I usually build single coil. With 24g, you'll have to build single to get into the .5+ range.

Maybe you need to get the Tugboat V2 that allows a single build................but for your problem:

0.5 sub ohm with Kanthal A1, 3.0 mm diameter inner coil, dual build with 11 full wraps you'll be good to go (I believe, I'm not for certain, possibly someone can correct me, but for a 0.7 sub ohm it would be 15 full wraps which will not make for too hot a vape).

Thanks for the help guys...really appreciate. And yes the v1 doesn't have adjustable airflow. I just went ahead and ordered some 28 gauge kanthal to to be able to run a dual coil with about 5 or 6 wraps each Instead of 15+

Depending on what you build, you can use a single and keep it wide open. Single claptons, parallels, helixs, or anything with high surface area and below .5 ohms work great wide open.
