Lemo Drop failure?

After a year of buying Nautilus Mini coils I decided to give RTAs a try. I picked up two Lemo Drops and an iStick TC 40W, use one of the Drops with the iStick, the other with a Cool Fire 4. Once the first stock coil got nasty I started building NI coils for use in TC mode with the iStick, and after some experimenting it's been working great for a couple of weeks. Great flavor and decent clouds.

The problem I'm having is the second Drop, which I've only used in VW mode with the stock coil. I've used the same juice from the start, but after my last refill it started producing little to no vape and was spitting juice. I built a new Kanthal coil, 9 wraps, 3mm, same result. Took it apart, cleaned it again, rewicked, same result. I've tried my iSticks instead of the Cool Fire, same thing. Connection is fine, I dry fired the coil before wicking and it's heating up evenly, seals all look fine. I've adjusted the air flow with no improvement in results.

Anybody else run into this problem with the Drop? Did I get a QC failure? Suggestions would be appreciated by this newbie.

I don't think there is any QC failure that could cause an atty to spit :). Your coil is spitting at you. Usually that's caused by the wicking. If there is an area (or areas) where the wick isn't fully touching the coil, juice collects and then spatters when heated, the same way oil or fat can spit at you when cooking with a frying pan.

Thanks Roxy, that makes sense, but why would it suddenly start spitting and lose vapor production with a wick that was working fine before refilling? I'd filled it several times without a problem and had not taken the atty apart.

Probably just past its usable lifespan. They get gunked up and possibly a little weighted down or less efficient. The coil gets gunked up as well and doesn't heat efficiently anymore until its cleaned and dry burned.
