Just let me say that I'm relatively new to vaping and an absolute virgin when it comes to RTAs. I don't know beans about building except for what I have read here. I've been collecting snippets of wisdom, gathering up tools, materials, and am getting ready to dive in. There have been some very interesting and clever techniques discussed here. I should note that I'm an engineer and tend to over-analyze everything:)

I'm a brand new owner of a Lemo Drop and a soon-to-be owner of a Lemo II. I think I want to use the Drop as my on-the-go device and keep the build around 1.0Ω » 1.2Ω. The Lemo II will be my at-home device and my introduction into sub-ohm. A lady at work let me try her Atlantis - quite an experience!

The stock coil in my Drop seems to be 9 wraps of 26g with an ID of approximately .136 (3.5mm). My meter reads the coil at 1.11Ω.

I was intrigued with someone's suggestion to use a left handed machine screw to make a spaced coil. McMaster-Carr is about the only source I know of to get LH threaded rod. I really didn't want to order a 3 foot piece for an experiment so I checked out our local Ace Hardware. They didn't have threaded rod, but they did have this:

I did a very quick test using this screw.

The finished ID is identical to the stock coil.

This weekend I'll modify the screw to fit in a pin-vise and try to do a little better job winding the coil. I'll be using 28g Kanthal.

Thought you guys & gals might be interested in a low dollar tool ($2-$3). Film at 11:00...

Thanks KTech. The reason I ask is because I was thumbing through some youtube videos and they Lemo's) look amazing. Then I got to this one video....about 25 seconds long. The guy was saying that he was finding small particals (metal shavings) floating around in his clear ejuice within his Lemo...He ran it through the cleaning process refilled it and saw the same thing....everybody else says it may be the best tank they've got. I don"t think the youtube guy mentioned what type of wire he was using....I just wonder why they wouldn't use stainless?

With my Lemos, and any tank, rba, RTAs, etc....that I buy, I always give it a good soak in dish soap for about 30 mins and then a thorough scrub and rinse. This helps get rid of any machine oil left on the product as well as washes away any metal shavings that may be left over. It's a good practice to get into, if you're not doing it already.
