So today was the day, i finally receivedmy lemo drop and istick 50w, but let me tell you, what a bad first experience. I used the stock coil and cotton and put in my 2 month old halo ejuice. (Wich was a pain in the ...) juice was all over. After i finally got the fill screw back on(5min later) i wasready for a vape. It was terrible. Such a harsh vape, i changed the settings and still wasnt happy. So i changed the juice to 3 other flavors and still was harsh. Overall i wasnt happy at all. After watching countless videos on youtube of people enjoying the hell out of it i realized that i have to be doing something wrong. Just dont know what. I changed the cotton 3 times aswell with the cotton that came with the lemo. Still waiting for myko gen do cotton to come in the mail.

Each juice tasted harsh maybe even peppery, ir burnt but the cotton didnt look charred.it is was 18mg nic though wich i have now ordered 3 mg to give it a try.

Given you mention the harshness/peppery taste, its almost certainly the nic. 18mg is pretty high for most people on lower resistance, higher performance setups.

Whats the resistance of the stock coil and what wattage are you running it at?

Also factory coils tend to underperform, are you able to wrap your own coil and slap a new build on it? (going to need to learn build it eventually anyway)

Best of luck!

I beleive it was1.1 and tried vaping between 7w to 20w. I previsouly vaped on a halo triton and wanted more flavor and vaper so i upgraded. I Read alot about ohms law and have a pretty good understanding of it aswell as rebuiing. Still waiting for my cotton and kanthal along with ohm meter and coil master.

First, if it was old juice, I highly recommend shaking it a few times before trying it. I would also make sure the wick is well saturated before vaping for the first time. The peppery taste definatley sounds like too high of nicotine. IF you want to test this theory, you can pickup a bottle of VG at Walmart for about $4 and dilute it 50/50 or more. This will make the juice thicker, dilute the flavor and nicotine as well. See if you still get that peppery taste.

Is this your first time vaping? It's a bit disturbing to me that a bunch of new vapers are just automatically starting out with sub-ohm devices... Bad news waiting to happen.

But yeah... Peppery taste = nicotine. You ever chew nicotine gum?

It is not surprising, given the number of daily threads where newer vapers are told they need 50+ watt setups and sub ohm tanks...

It's partially due to the fact that newer vapers see huge clouds and want the clouds more for the experience. I have a Cloupor 30w and a Sigeli 100w, and I rarely take the sigeli above 30w. I would rather them start off with a 1.2 ohm setup and a 30w device.. that provides enough vapor for most people. THe only reason I would recommend the Istick 50w over a 30w device, is because the istick 50 has a much longer battery life. I recommend the Subtank not because of the .5 ohm coils, but because they're just a very nice, easy, and affordable tank. I'd recommend the subtank for an istick 20, but only use the 1.2 ohm coils.

Right now, the 30w devices are small, light weight, and just easy for first timers. IT gives them room to grow in the future. And keep in mind, just because they have a .5ohm coil and 30 watts of power, doesn't mean they will be vaping 30 watts. They can prefer a much lower setting, say 12 watts and be satisfied.

When they want more, they have more to play with. right now,t he market goes from the ego pens to the 30 watt devices. It's becoming rare to find a 15w device.

is this your first rebuildable tank? I had been using a protank 2 setup for a while, with 18mg nic juice. When i finally made the jump to rebuildables I had the same experience, a harsh peppery taste. Since then I have switched down to 12 mg with rebuildables, still use 18 nic in my protanks though. Fact is, rebuildables are just better delivery systems, so you need to bring your nic levels down to get the same experience that you are used to.
Hope this helps, and good luck with your adventure!

I was a bit terrified when someone at work (who doesn't even smoke mind you, but just got into vaping as a hobby) bought a mechanical mod as his very first device. When I was asking him about it he had no idea what kind of battery or charger he had, and had no multimeter to actually know when to charge the battery. I'm all for freedom of consumption an all but I sorta feel like these kind of devices need to come with required reading or something.

And I just don't get jumping straight to sub-ohm at all, especially when quitting smoking is the primary goal. In my opinion it's the advanced level that you move onto after some time in the beginner level, and only after scouring these forums for hours studying information (plus it's really not necessary when you're just looking for a healthier route of nicotine ingestion).

I'm conflicted, because personally any sort of regulations are going to negatively impact something that I love and am doing in a safe and informed manner, yet I understand the need for it when the general masses are running out and buying mechs, sub-ohm tanks, and concentrated nicotine without knowing a damn thing about them.

machine oil

soak your new rebuidable before use; especially the build deck where the manufacturer would have used machine oil in the drilling process.

A guy at work was showing me a gaudy box mod he bought at a B&M for $90. It had dual batteries- no markings on them, a flashlight on the bottom and he said it was really powerful because it goes from 3-6 ohms. He had a generic tank and a handful of $5 coils/wicks...

Lol, i love how some people assume that "someone new" just wants to jump jnto sub ohming and chucking hudge clouds. Everyone here was a nooby at one point when getting into rda/rta. Dont assume i am some ignorant person who is "giving vaping a bad name". I started vaping with a halo triton and shortly after i relized i wanted to acheive more vapor (not hudge clouds, just more than the triton was putting out) and flavour. So i did my research and found the 50w had an extremely long battery life and for the extra 10-20$ had the extra power if needed in the future. and the lemo had an easy build deck for someone new at building coils. So please, dont comment on here thinking i am someone who is just buying vape gear to "look cool"

My comments were not meant to be directed towards you, I was just speaking about this general trend that's beginning; Didn't mean to hijack your thread and/or make assumptions about you personally.

dont mean to sound like a d***, sorry. Just dont want to be grouped in with the people that dont take the time to learn what there doing. Also, thanks for the advice. I have done all of the above except soaking the rta to remove machine oil, i beleive that and the high nic is what i may have been tasting.

I have a Subtank Mini and I used it right out of the box without any problems, but I'm sure a quick wash wouldn't be a bad idea in any case.

I'm still convinced it's probably nicotine, because it definitely has a peppery taste when it's at higher strength and not masked by another flavor. Did you have the liquid stored closed tight in a cool, dark place during that two months? I keep all of mine (the in-rotation mixed liquids) in a dresser drawer.

I chewed nicotine gum before and it wasnt so much peppery as it was "dry". I didnt have much of a chance yet to get to tinker with the coil and wicking. When i get home tommorow i will have a chance. from what i have learned it seems to be more of a technique or skill when it comes with wicking. To be honest i wasnt to much of a fan of the flavors i had to begin with. Ill keep you guys posted when i get new juice and cotton tommorow.

Wow, this thread kind of went off on a tangent. The Lemo is a regular RTA, not a subohm tank, although it could be built with a subohm coil. Nothing wrong with an iStick 50 watt, great battery life and plenty of power if needed now or in the future.

To the OP, I would follow the advice to clean all parts of the tank well. Second, realize your eliquid may taste differently in a RTA like the Lemo. The Lemo will probably make a stronger flavor and vapor than the Triton, so lower nicotine may be in order as stated.
