I get hot legs once in awhile on my Origen and solved that by crimping the wires and shortening the distance from the negative connection. But I'm curious to see everyone's builds. Especially pics of the coils unwicked so we could check out the placements. Show them builds off!

I don't have a pic of a non-wicked build, but this is how I do my Origens:

The wire to the negative connection goes down and is run behind the allen screw. I've got the horizontal build down pat now, and it's very easy. With your coil on the drill bit, stick the bit vertically next to the neg screw so the legs are coming out and facing the center post. Secure the lower leg on the neg screw (on the post side, not the front / cap side). Then use the bit and tweezers to bend the coil up to the horizontal position and feed the other leg through the center post hole... this I find is the 'hardest' part, but I've learned that with a short leg and some help pulling the leg through (pliers) it's really a non-problem. I can build this almost as fast as an IGO-L build now :)

Very cool! Gonna try this for sure.

Good lookin build. Anyone out there got pics of their standard vertical coils? I've built both but prefer the verts on this one and horizontal on my other drippers. The flavor on the verts is off the hook
I think if you secured the lower leg on the side of the negative screw closest to the post that may help with the hot legs issue! At least that's what I did when I did vertical builds and didn't have any issues w/ hot legs. That said, I felt like I got a wetter and slightly more flavorful build out of the horiz. build so I stuck to those.
