You are my “EX” nothing more, nothing less. You have always seemed to be there for me when I needed you the most. You carried me through many stressful situations, but I am so relieved to see you go. I thought that I would be dependent of you for the rest of my life since I did not see myself having the will power to let you go. I now know that I do have the power to cut you out of my life. Although you will be missed, the importance of me being on this Earth longer to care for my son, fiancé, and step-daughter outweigh the comfort you once provided me with. I will now hold on to them knowing that I do have the drive, determination, and perseverance that I once thought I never had.

It’s now been 60 days since I have quit smoking. I feel fantastic. My life has carried on without the need to smoke. I no longer smell of smoke and I no longer plan my day around the idea of smoking or when is a good time to take a break to go out in the rain or cold to have a cigarette. Although, I still get cravings practically every day but I'm powering through.

I'm now embarking on my next 30 days now. I hope the cravings will end. But they have gotten a lot better. From some of you veteran quitters out there what other challenges am I yet to face. I still fear being in social situations where there are a lot of smokers. I don't know if I can hold myself after having a few drinks.

Well, I'm off to conquer another day being smoke free and breathing clean air. Good luck to all the quitters who are just starting and congrats to the veteran quitters. Feel free to comment

Signed, Roger Abalos the “Ex-Smoker”
