Hey vets,

I was wondering is it safe to use the samsung and panasonic 18650 batteries with my mechanical mod? if not why? My builds are usually .4-.8 ohms.

Thanks!

If we knew the Volts you hit those .4~.8 ohm coils we could Figure Out the Amps you will pull thru the Battery.

And that is something to consider when Buying ANY Battery.

Also, it sounds like your Mod has no Protection. Right? So you want "Protected" Batteries or "Safe Chemistry" IMR. Or at least I would.

A few opinions I can't link to because they're from the vets forum:

From WillyB:
I guess it depends what you mean by "the safest". The safe chemistry cells most use are unprotected naked cells, they can be overcharged, overdrained and have no protection against shorts. In a simple tube PV (the current silly rage) hit them with a bad atty (dead short) and you better be be ready to pitch it. The new 'high end' mechanicals with no wires or springs (something to give and break the connection) are the worst.

From Off Topic:

WARNING:

If you are going to run a rebuildable atty on a mechanical mod, make sure you check the resistance on a meter before hooking it up to your device. If the resistance is below 1.3ohms, DO NOT PLUG IT IN.

Invest in a small ohm meter, or get a VV device with one built in. A protected battery covers all those possibilities.

------

You decide.....

I think you will be pulling about 10 amps with a 0.4 ohm coil (with a fully-charged batt @4.2v).

That's hot baby.

Yeah it Is.

And .4 Ohms at 4.2 Volts is 44.1 Watts. Rats-a-Rot of Watts.

If I was Pulling 10 Amps to make 44 Watts I would want to have an Oversized Vent Hole in my Mod.
