I was discussing a term policy with my insurance provider, and I learned that for a smoker the rates are almost double that of a non smoker. When he asked me if I smoke I didn't really know how to answer. No, I haven't had an analog since September, but yes I still use nicotine. I'm not going to lie to an insurance company for obvious reasons, but I do think it's a little strange that I should have to pay the same premium now that I'm just vaping. Has anyone had any experience dealing with this?

Not something worth taking the chance over. Unless you get 100% clarification that you qualify for the lower rate, pay the higher. Either that, or don't bother paying for the policy. Why pay if you can't collect?

Ill jump in as a Financial Adviser here guys, most (UK anyway) Life insurance class the use of any e cigs as a smoker.

I can confirm this is the case with the big two, Aviva & L&G as I advice on their products and spoke with their underwriters about this about 6 mths ago, most applications ask have you used ANY nicotine products in the last 12 months, this includes gum and patches too

exactly. its not worth lying on a life insurance application. if they catch you, its recorded and you are essentially blacklisted from ANY life insurancwe company.

most life insurance applications will ask if you smoke or use nicotine in any form.

the reasoning behind this is because they believe if you are addicted to nicotine, you have a strong liklihood of using it in any form. your ecig malfunctions and you cant wait for a delivery, your dog tears apart your juice stash while youre away, you get in a car wreck and your PV is destroyed, this of course doesnt really apply to us vapers that have millions of backups, but there are tons of sutuations that could cause any of us to dash to the store and start halling off a pack of stinkes.

life insurance companies cant and wont take personal discretion into account. they wont say "well ever since Mary quit smoking, she cant stand the smell and taste of cigarettes so shes never going to smoke one again". they have to lump everyone into one category and call us nicotine addicts. addicts that will do anyhting for our fix lol "muahahaha" as if we are junkies or somehting lol.
