I got my Quarter Sawn Oak woodvil yesterday :)

Its not the prettiest .... It has some blemishes on the door and round back.

It sat on the site for 48 hours after the sale and no one picked it :(

Its like the 5 dogs I've rescued in my life .... It finally has a home and I love it.
My wife always said the dogs I've saved have won the lottery :)
(My dogs have a great life)

This guy will be no exception .... It will see 3.7v, 5v, and 6v
Cisco, IKV, and Joye attys. Boge and ST dual coil cartos.

It will have the best of everthing and be with me till I'm cold and in the ground.

A few of you thought I was crazy to sell the Padauk/Wenge beauty to pick up this Oak.
I guess I am just a simple guy. Two Oak woodvils and both my Aluminum REOs are black.

I've wanted to buy every color Grand and Mini .... I've drooled over every type of wood for the woodvil .... but it always comes down to plain and simple.

I've never named a REO before, but I think this baby needs a name!

BTW, guess what wood my Mini Woodvil will be :)

Oak ages so beautifully, and really there is nothing wrong with "plain", tho I don't think Oak can be called plain, it is more like Classic!

True, my father is a furniture maker and some of his finest pieces were made from oak.

He does the whole deal though. We cut the trees and we both own 50% of a nice sawmill.
I help him do the heavy work from time to time but usually he just works slow and steady and gets amazing work done.

I hope I can do that much when I am 77 years old :) Heck i wish I did as much as him right now !!

BH, I think that is a fabulous choice. One of the things that Rob is so good at is seeing the beauty in the wood, and bringing it out to it's best advantage. Every one of his mods, metal and wood, are designed and made in a way that is consistent with their inherent properties. He is an amazing designer and craftsman.

Just wondering, does it have a name yet? I think you have made a good decision in getting the last Oak. The Woodvils in general are spectacular looking. So much so that I won't take mine with me when I leave home. My Valdez would have to be wrapped up in bubble wrap before I felt it was "safe". With me a Woodvil is an investment that can be utilized and appreciated for it's beauty. Money spent on one is not a drop in the bucket for me. If I had the funds I would probably buy a Woodvil that I could feel comfortable knocking around. I could be very happy with a blemished, rugged finished Woodvil that was a little less in cost.

I ordered the Quarter Sawn Oak woodvil out of the last batch because I actually thought it was the prettiest! I love the lighter colored wood. It almost looks "blonde" to me!

now I just need to get my .... in gear & get to the post office & pick up my purple mini that has been sitting there for 2 days. ahhhhhhhh

Oak is so strong, that Reo will probably be around after you expire.

Speaking of expiring, I was also trying to think of a couple of names for mine. But I couldn't think of a theme. Your comments made me think of my dogs. Ones that have moved on. My black/red is now named Kinsky (after my Malamute/Husky) and my silver/blue will from this point forward be known as Fritz (after my white German Shepherd). Fritz will be my son's. I'm trying to get him off cigs.

Thanks for the dialog on your dogs.

What you use to get 5v, and how's the battery life?
