Limited amount of money and need the right supplies for DIY flavors

Hi all, I joined a little while ago but haven't posted much. Sadly, due to lack of funds and disappointment in taste and bad decisions regarding purchasing starter kits from not so reputable companies I ended up back to smoking analogs for a little bit. This HAS to stop!! I became so desperate that I actually took some supposedly marlboro flavored e-liquid I had bought at a tobacco store on my way home from a long trip at the end of May and mixed in a little Vanilla extract and imitation vanilla extract. Better, but not happy with that and realizing I needed to order the CORRECT supplies I had to bide my time until I got some cash today and put it on my pre-paid debit card.

So... I have exactly $100 on this card. Don't need tweezers, vials, syringes with ml. measurements, etc. because I breed German Shepherds and we have all this stuff to give them medications their shots, you name it, I've got it. At least I can get by with what I have until I can afford to buy more stuff. The real emergency right now is buying some flavoring that I will enjoy vaping!! I have tons of cartridges that the wick is still usable although I will really like to purchase some blank ones if my budget affords it. Actually, I don't need the plastic parts or the plugs. I just need wicks!! Where can I purchase wick material?? Keep in mind I live in the BOONDOCKS where there is NOTHING for miles. Even the big chain stores that are close enough to drive to around here are scaled down versions of those in the big city.

So I will need some wick material if possible, some VG, I was interested in the vanillian crystals (10% PG) from the Perfumers apprentice to mix with some other flavor that perhaps had a strong buttery taste to it to tone down the sweetness, and will have to wait to get a decent PV I now have 5 small batteries from 3 different manufacturers that have to be constantly charged. Sigh....

I took a break from writing this to visit the Perfumers Apprentice and almost fell over when I saw the shipping cost would add approximately 50% to the original cost of my order!!! Still have the window open but guess I will be looking around more. $14+ is the cheapest shipping method? Geez....

Hi, Darlene, and welcome. By wick material, do you mean the filling (white fluffy polyfill) in the cartridges? Keep posting here a few times until you get past the 5 post minimum then you can post elsewhere. When you say you're using several small batteries....what kind are they? Are they 510 connections? Tell us more about your setup. Do you have several atomizers? Are they interchangeable?

One Stop DIY or Ecigexpress are good places to get flavors and this is good for smaller size bottles
Flavors nuts/berries, The Flavor Store

All of these places have low shipping :) You can also pick up some VG from them :)

You can also buy 4 and get 3 free from here http://capellaflavordrops.com/ and their VG is priced low. Vanilla Cupcake and Custard are great for mixing :)

I buy some of my flavorings from a place called USA Made Vapor Renu. They sell 30ml bottles for around $7.00 which I think is waaay cheap. And I like their flavors. Also, the filling for the cartridges....I used blue foam which is actually made for fish tanks and I got it at a pet supply store. I could (would be glad to) send you some of that free. After you get a few more posts, you could PM me and we could talk.

The VG to mix juices with is cheap....I get mine at Walmart for around $2.00 for 6 oz. The nicotine juice is something you'd have to order online....right now Best Electronic Cigarettes - MyFreedomSmokes.com is having a 40% off sale and you could get some of that pretty cheap.

The major disappointment is usually from the battery. Have you considered taking the connector and building a mod?
I'd start with something simple like the NicoStick---CHEAP to make. Easy too: DH does most of the building but I manage to make one myself. :)

Wow! Thanks everybody for the replies! I don't know where to start. LOL While you were all responding to my post I was off reading more info here on ECF and clicking links\creating accounts at some recommended suppliers. Would love some help, trades, whatever! I need all the help I can get!!! LOL Quitting analog's is literally a life or death situation at this point for me. I had a heart attack last year in June (2010) and had to have a stent placed in my heart. I have tried SO hard to cut back and quit on my own but always end up right where I started again and that is a 2+ pack a day smoker :(

My cardiologist is having fits and I am very worried as well. If I continue to smoke analogs my stent WILL get clogged. I am a high profile risk for a stroke or second heart attack and I'm only 43 years old. (Early heart disease runs on both sides of my immediate family history) This is why I have spent so much money trying and trying to switch to E-Cigs completely. I ALMOST did it. Was down to maybe 4 or 5 cigarettes a day and even then THEY started tasting bad!!! I only wanted to vape instead! I was so proud! At the time I was ordering 8mg Marlboro flavored liquid from DirectECig (got suckered into one of their "trial" starter kits) but for some reason the first batch of carts AND first 30ml bottle of E-liquid I ordered after the carts were vaped dry tasted NOTHING like a Marlboro cigarette. I have no idea WHAT it tasted like but it tasted GREAT!! It was literally addicting to me (the taste) and I happily vaped away all day and night. It was like a pacifier. LOL

Then I anxiously awaited for the next set of replacement carts and a 10ml bottle plus a new atomizer. Suddenly they tasted just like what the bottle said it was going to taste like. A marlboro ultra light cigarette! (Boooo!!!) Because DirectECig was not my first starter kit I had Njoy batteries as well (had 2 but one stopped working) Those came with cartomizers and I never could get used to the taste but kept the batteries because the DirectECig atomizers fit them and the Njoy batteries seem to give a stronger vape. I also had taken a leap and purchased a starter kit at a tobacco outlet for a brand called "Fifty-One". It came with 15 carts an atomizer, battery, and house charger. I don't know what type of nic juice they fill their carts with but INSTANT migraine!!! Not to mention after the first few puffs the taste was HORRID!!

Not to be wasteful I took all the carts apart completely, (including the 13 unused ones) pulled out and placed all the soaked wick material inbetween Bounty paper towels and blotted them as dry as possible (they still had a wretched chemical\pesticide smell), rinsed everything thoroughly in water first using a large strainer, then dumped all of it in a bowl that was a 50\50 mixture of water and Isopropyl alchohol. Thoroughly rinsed everything again before drying it all and even used cotton swabs to try and get every bit of that nasty tasting oil out of the inside of the plastic carts. I still had to let everything air dry for several days before the smell went away completely!! If all else fails I can buy a box of 15 replacement carts of this brand for $8 nearby and just go through the above process again if need be. Saves on shipping even though it's a super PIA!!

I currently have 5 atty's although only 4 are really usable since one tasted totally burnt one day and I had another one ordered and on the way (only had 2 at the time) and decided to try the de-wicking tutorial here on ECF on it just for fun. LOL It worked but it doesn't vape very good anymore. I did discover that there was literally burned white thread like material (you could see where the ends were badly scorched) once I took the mesh off according to the tutorial so that explains the horrible burnt taste!

JC Okie, thank you :) yes that is exactly what I mean. Would you believe there isn't a pet store near me for 50 miles? Swear to you I have to drive to Chattanooga, TN to find a pet store. Thank goodness I go there once a month to see my chronic pain specialist. Very sweet of you to offer to send me stuff! I think I'm over the 5 post limit now so feel free to PM me or I'll PM you tomorrow morning :) And thanks so much for the tips and links! You guys are great!!! I so wish I had found this forum before I started wasting money! Now I feel like I will finally find my perfect vape with the help of this forum and it's members!!!! Also I tend to like a lightly sweet, sort of buttery taste with a bit of tobacco flavor thrown in it seems. Hard to describe. I guess I will have to experiment to really find out! If I could recreate the taste of those first couple of orders DirectECig sent to me I'd never vape anything else! But it tasted like something I probably can't post here. I actually DO know what it reminded me of. However, I read the forum rules so don't want to get suspended temporarily for posting anything that is against the rules here! I guess I could tell you in a PM though!

Swedishfish, thank you :) I was looking at the suppliers section yesterday and will certainly go back there again and post tomorrow (getting sleepy lol) I saw a post that looks like a supplier is in Georgia and although a bit of a drive by car if they ship the order should get to me super fast since I am in NE Alabama near the GA state line.

SalemGold, thank you so much for the tips!!! Will check them out tomorrow. My eyes are blurring from all the reading I've done this evening. I don't want to rush into an order without thoroughly checking out every possible venue that is recommended by ECF and experienced users here at ECF! I'm still a noob at this and my wounded pocket book proves it!

I have a ton of flavors and some VG to send and 60 mls of nic. I got so much help from members here when I started vaping that I try to help when I am able to. I will bet that once Darlene is set and has something to spare we will see her here paying it forward too :) The kindness of strangers makes us want to be kind to strangers too lol

You guys ALL rock!!!!!!! Just got on here and my inbox was full!! After responding to everyone I got to this thread and more offers!! And yes, you can bet once I am set up and am no longer the noob floundering around I will definitely be paying it forward to someone else! This is a concept I am most familiar with already on another forum I belong to for a gaming site (Pogo). For some disabled and elderly people that place is their only source of entertainment and I've gifted countless subscriptions to total strangers who happened to post that they would be leaving for a while until they could afford to renew. I save mycokerewards points and cash them in for Pogo subscriptions and PM them to get their real e-mail address then forward them the rewards Award code e-mail that was sent to me by Coca-Cola. I also gift gem items (gems are pogo currency) when I am blessed enough to afford to purchase a bunch of gems that month, like limited items, badge albums, etc. to those who cannot afford to purchase gems and REALLY want a particular item.

You just don't know how much something like that can mean to someone who is infirm, laid up from a bad accident, on a fixed income and housebound, etc. It's their only means of interacting with the outside world and keeping their mind busy and you'd be surprised how a simple little animated graphic for their mini (avatar) or a new PBA (Premium Badge Album) can make someones entire day.) I find myself scanning the forums when my gem count is high looking for "that post". You know, the one that says, "I'm having a bad day\hard time right now" That's always the total stranger I choose to help out.

I came here only expecting to get advice which would have been MORE than helpful but am totally bowled over by the overwhelming responses to help me by the members here at ECF. This is truly a wonderful community and I feel extremely lucky to have found and joined this forum and hope to be sharing and learning here for a very long time!!!

Thank you ALL so very much for the warm welcome and OgreDog I will send you a PM right now! Thank you all again!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Check flavors at Quality brand e cigarette and e cig liquid from ecigexpress.com - their shipping is pretty reasonable and they have a great selection.

Maybe CRYSTAL CLEAR VAPING has a lot of what you need? (free shipping, great prices, but have to pay with PayPal I think)

Unfortunately Crystal Clear Vaping is located in the UK and I am in the USA so their free shipping is limited to "across the pond" so to speak. LOL I also noted their Paypal method does not include the option to check credit\debit card and I do not have a checking or any type of bank account so until they get a merchant account going I'll have to wait to order anything from them :(

I did just order some Vanilla Cupcake and Vanilla Custard as well as 4 other various flavors from Capella Flavor Drops though since they are having a pick 6 flavors and only pay for 4 special with coupon code PICK6PAY4 :) After my order from Gourmet Vapor last night which included their 510 starter kit and some flavors (at 50% off) I am now officially broke. LOL But happy!! Can't wait until my goodies get here and can't wait until I can stop using these useless cheap batteries\carts I purchased over the past few months. They are all starting to die and need constant charging.

Next bit of extra $$$ I can afford to spend will go into more vaping equipment. Got to get my boyfriend hooked on this and away from analogs!!
