Hard to make recommendations because there is so much choice out there. For 808 cig-alike Halo seems to be popular now. That's what I started with. It's quality and I'm still using it. Their G6 starter kit is reasonably priced for a mainstream kit at $44.99.

But then there's an 808 starter kit for only $29.95 at MyVaporStore. I don't know how it is. Looks pretty good. .

That's what happens, you keep looking and find something else more interesting than the last thing you looked at.

There's a nice 510 kit from Kanger that's only $34.95 at VaporLeaf. Only a little bit thicker than an 808 but looks sharp and discreet. And it's Kanger, a top brand. These are refillable clearomizers.

There's a cheap ego/clearo kit at MyFreedomSmokes that you can buy to try it out. After shipping it comes to $20, which is reasonable if you pretend FastTech doesn't exist, which right now you should. I like this kit because it comes with a variable volt battery. Which is not as complicated as it sounds. Three settings, no big deal.

For something more advanced there's an Evod kit at Vape Dojo for only $34.95 That's dirt cheap for this kit. It sells out quick.

edit: I've purchased at each of these vendors with no problems, except Vape Dojo which I've never bought anything. I'm sure they're fine. I do want that evod kit.

Thanks! While waiting for replies I went off and read some reviews, and decided just to take the plunge. I got a Volt 808 starter pack with a blend of tobacco flavors, since they have good reviews on this site and elsewhere and competitive pricing. Found a 15% off code too! It cost me less than a carton of smokes, and I got 10 cartomizers. Hope it works out, or is at least a good introduction to vaping. Glad I found this site!

I would wholeheartedly recommend against buying anything with 808 threading. You will have a very difficult time finding any accessories for your setup. Most vendors have very few 808 threaded stuff, if they even have any at all. This is great for companies like V4L because you will probably wind up buying everything from them. If you are cool with that, ignore my advice...
