I've started to notice that some flavors that use sweetener leave that after taste of the fake sugar like diet soda's etc etc which I really don't like... Now I'm thinking about getting a doubler from Tasty Vapor of their caramel popcorn. It asks you if you want to add sweetener, which they use a sucralose based sweetener. So my question is why can't I say no to their sweetener and add liquid stevia if it's needed. Or would that change the strength of the flavor too much. These are my baby steps towards diy liquids. I figure if I can save $$ on liquids, I can spend that xtra $$ on upgrading my hardware to a vmod :hubba:. This forum is awesome and I appreciate the feedback. Thx.

I DIY with Capella Flavor Drops and they don't use any sweeteners at all and their sweet flavors are all sweet on their own.

I don't know anyone who uses Stevia (many DIY people use EZ-Sweetz which is sucralose). I don't think your juice will be a lot different without sweetener added, it sounds like you will prefer it that way.

I don't want to turn this into a debate on the best sweeteners. But I frequently use EM (or cotton candy flavored liquid), or Ms. T's Sweetner (From Ms. T's Bakery, the only thing I order from them).

The EM is a good Sweetener, it seems to soften flavors, and depending on the flavor i can detect a chemical after taste. I tend to use this on flavors I find harsh or ones that have too much throat hit.

If I like the flavor, but want to add sweetness I tend to use Ms. T's.

I haven't tried stevia in my DIYing, but thought I's offer a couple of other options.

I've seen a few threads on the use of cotton candy for sweetener, that had never occurred to me. I found out there are some that do use a stevia from gnc. But you have to get the right kind. I guess it boils down to personal preference w/just about everything from your batts to your juice. That is one of the things that is soooo cool about vaping, there really is no wrong way, as long as you don't use oils in your liquids.... I love it!!!! And everyone here is very very helpful. Thank you

I've bought some DIY products and neat flavors today. I added Ms T's sweetener just now as well. I suspect August is going to be an awesome month for experimenting!

Thanks for the advice, nebulous- and for the thread, vikki.

I've used Stevia...and I like it fine. I get it at a health food store (Akins) and it only takes a drop or two per 10ml (or even less, sometimes.) I've also used EM (cotton candy) and like that fine. I don't use sucralose because it's not something I would use in drinks....

Hope this helps....

How do you know if the juice you're buying has sucralose or other artificial sweeteners? I'm allergic and don't want problems. I know, just stick with reg tobacco juice and I won't have to worry.......But I like flavors, too.

I've asked a couple of vendors through their contact email, most were really nice and informative. Gives you a feel of the shop before buying too.

Absolutely you can add a Sweetener to you e-Liquids later. The small amount needed is not going to make any Real difference to the Nicotine strength.

I used to use Cotton Candy as a Sweetener. Just could get my DIY mixes sweet enough for my tastes. I switched to Sucralose and it was like Night and Day. I can make things Candy sweet if I want. I also don’t get any Chemical after taste.

If you are going to order from Tasty Vapor you might pick up a bottle of Sucralose. I think it is in the Flavor or Misc. section. Also I Highly Recommend TastyFinger.

BTW – How are things in Santa Rosa? I did my lower units there at the J.C. in the early 80’s. A beautiful town and surrounding area.

Tried 'Now foods' brand stevia recently... didn't like the taste or smell of my e-juice. Gave it an over-powering chemical taste. I really don't want to continue to use sucralose either, but think I will because it doesn't change the flavors like stevia does... for me anyway.
